Jon Krawczynski: Terrence Shannon Jr. (listed as questionable with a hip contusion) was first banged up when he took a spill under the basket down the stretch of the LA Clippers game. I think it played a role in his off night in San Antonio. Will see if he plays tonight.
Jon Krawcynski: The Timberwolves are exercising the contract options for next season on TJ Shannon and Joan Beringer, a source tells @TheAthletic. No surprise there. Both have played very well early in this season and are big parts of the Wolves future.
Terrence Shannon Jr: “Oh, LaMelo… he’s the best passer in the league. He see everything. He see stuff that we don’t even see. So, he’ll pass you to being open. But yeah, man, he’s a great player. He’s the best passer in the NBA for sure.”

The once supersized Wolves are now looking very thin in the frontline. They will have a difficult time finding an upgrade with no draft picks left to trade. They might need to part with one of Terrence Shannon Jr. or Joan Beringer to get a team interested. Otherwise, they’re looking at starting a lineup featuring LaMelo Ball, Ayo Dosunmu, Anthony Edwards, Jaden McDaniels, and Rudy Gobert. The Wolves would have limited options for upgrading the frontcourt. They will no longer create a $33 million trade exception and lose access to all trade exceptions created last season, including the $10.8 million one. They also lose the $5.5 million bi-annual exception and get the reduced $6 million taxpayer mid-level exception instead of the $15.5 million one. They are highly unlikely to get a starter with that amount.
Sam Quinn: If Minnesota is keeping Donte DiVincenzo, they somehow have to turn Josh Green's $14.7 million salary into a playable power forward. Without draft picks, they might have to include Terrence Shannon to do so. But that's the next order of business here.

The Timberwolves, meanwhile, are also seen by some as an emerging option for the Bucks. While Antetokounmpo is known to prefer a trade involving a team in the Eastern Conference, league sources say the Bucks are interested in what Minnesota has to offer. If the Timberwolves want to get into the mix, league sources say the Bucks would want a package including Jaden McDaniels, Naz Reid, Terrence Shannon Jr. and their two tradable first-round picks (No. 29 in this year’s draft and their 2033 pick). Yet considering McDaniels’ immense value alongside Edwards as an elite perimeter defender, as well as his impressive postseason performance, team sources say Minnesota has indicated that McDaniels is off limits. Per those sources, the same goes for 19-year-old big man Joan Beringer.
