The workout took place on June 21 at the end of what had been an exhausting week for the 6-foot-11, 235-pound prospect. Beringer had already had workouts in San Antonio, Memphis and with the Bulls in Chicago that week, and his legs were feeling a little rubbery by the time the Timberwolves scrambled to get an up-close look at him less than a week before the draft. On the first two attempts to dunk it from the stripe, his legs just weren’t quite there. “I was tired,” Beringer said with a chuckle. “The last one I said, I need to finish a good workout. And that was it.”
Kornet signed with the Spurs this offseason, leaving the Celtics after four consecutive seasons. He played a solid role off the bench as he helped the team win the 2024 NBA championship. Kornet wore the No. 40 jersey with Boston, but with San Antonio, he will don the No. 7 jersey. He explained how Duncan played a role behind the jersey number during his introductory press conference on Monday. “I just hope to be a third of the player that Tim Duncan was,” Kornet said.
Fred Katz: Luke Kornet's deal in San Antonio is descending with a partial guarantee on Year 3 and no guarantee on Year 4, league source says. Here's the breakdown: 2025-26: $11M 2026-27: $10.45M 2027-28: $9.9M ($2.55M gtd) 2028-29: $9.35M (non-gtd)
To add to another Fischer report from Saturday night: The Clippers have also been described as a team to watch, alongside San Antonio, in the Luke Kornet chase.

There are some obvious potential fits for Brown around the league (Houston, San Antonio) but Zach Lowe of the Ringer hinted at a surprising new suitor on his podcast Saturday. “I get the sense there was real smoke, there was something going on,” Lowe said of Brown trade rumors over the past week. “That something maybe has subsided. I said last week that I would bet on (White and Brown) being on the Celtics next year but I’m not slamming the door shut on some team — the Kings come to mind — being like, we’ll offer you everything, all the swaps, all the picks, whatever you want for Jaylen Brown and at least making the Celtics think about it. I don’t think that’s going to happen. I think they will both be on the team next year but they instantly could become the main characters of free agency.”
Multiple well-placed observers are describing San Antonio as the foremost threat to sign Yabusele away from the 76ers, but I'm also told that Philadelphia has not yet abandoned hope of convincing him to stay. The Spurs certainly boast a persuasive recruiter in the Yabusele chase — his Olympic teammate Victor Wembanyama — but word is Milwaukee is another team to watch here.
Perhaps the most established center headed for the open market is the ring-winning Brook Lopez. Two summers ago, you'll recall, both San Antonio and Houston pursued Lopez aggressively before the Bucks successfully convinced him to re-sign. This time around, however, numerous rival teams are bracing for the center-craving Los Angeles Lakers to make a run at luring Lopez away from the Bucks.

Chris Paul would be another Mavericks target at $5.7 million, but there is a growing belief that Paul — after starting all 82 games last season in San Antonio as a 39-year-old newcomer to the Spurs — is determined to play closer to his home base in Los Angeles if he indeed comes back for a 21st season.
Ian Begley: Celtics touched base today with teams, including San Antonio (No. 14), on deals that would land a lottery pick in tonight’s draft. (Obviously San Antonio is not moving its No. 2 overall pick). As others have reported, BOS has been getting offers for Sam Hauser and listening to offers for Jaylen Brown and Derrick White.
I believe that the Sixers will make at least one more trade run at the No. 2 overall pick by calling San Antonio again — something we've already reported that Philadelphia has attempted — just as I also strongly believe that San Antonio has never strongly considered surrendering the pick and missing out on the chance to draft Dylan Harper.
