Q. Have you ever been asked as a in consultant role or even just in conversation about how you would address what they should do next or what they should do first? Kendall Gill: No, I' I've never been asked those questions. Q. What would you tell them? Gill: I would tell them exactly what I just told you. And then I would also tell them that, and I know it's going to take a lot of money. I've discussed this with you guys as well. I know it's going to take a lot of money, but I would definitely try to go back after Ayo Dosunmu as well. And I know that Ayo, from my conversations with him this summer, would be open to it, but it's going to take a lot to get him back. But that's what I would do.

According to a league source, Detroit did pursue Dosunmu, but the asking price was just too high. The Minnesota Timberwolves traded Rob Dillingham, Leonard Miller and four second-round picks in exchange for Dosunmu and Julian Phillips. The Bulls wanted young talent and picks, which the Pistons weren’t willing to offload for Dosunmu, who is now entering free agency.
Joakim Noah: "Did you learn things, are there teammates who taught you things, who helped you for this year?" Noa Essengue: "Oh yes, and I would say first of all the two who helped me a lot at the time of my injury were Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu. Because it is two guys who went through this operation too. So talking with them, talking about how rehabilitation was, how long it takes, if it was hard to come back afterwards, for this injury, they helped me a lot."

After the Timberwolves lost Nickeil Alexander-Walker last summer in free agency -- and after the 27-year-old guard was named 2026 Most Improved Player with the Atlanta Hawks -- Minnesota simply cannot afford to let Ayo Dosunmu walk. That's why sources around the league expect he will be back with the Wolves, but for a price slightly above the midlevel exception (roughly $15 million), which is what most rival teams could offer. Doing so might require Minnesota to move off Donte DiVincenzo, who will miss at least most of next season with a torn right Achilles, to avoid going into the second luxury tax apron.

Jon Krawczynski: Tim Connelly says he is optimistic they will bring back Ayo Dosunmu: "Ayo’s our most important free agent. He’s a guy we thought we knew pretty well and we liked him from afar. Now seeing him day to day, we love him."

Andrew Dukowitz: Ayo Dosunmu on finishing the season with the Wolves and what is next for him being a free agent “The main thing that I really appreciated coming to Minnesota was how they accepted me. Coming in at the trade deadline, they accepted me right away. The fans are amazing, the environment is amazing. I love it. Being my first time being traded, I think they took me in with open arms. So I’m excited. Of course, I’m excited also for free agency. Because being in the league for five years, this is my first time being able to go through free agency unrestricted, I’m looking forward to that. But at the same time, my time here, these two to three months in Minnesota has been great. I’m excited for the future.”

Chris Hine: Ayo Dosunmu jokes about what the Timberwolves’ mindset is tonight ahead of Game 5: “We coming out, we sending a message — nah, I’m just playing.” Later added that the Wolves were expecting Victor Wembanyama to not get suspended and play tonight.

Tom Orsborn: The word at the practice facility after shootaround this morning is Fox will be a game-time decision. Spurs listed him as questionable yesterday with right ankle soreness after a collision with Ayo Dosunmu in Game 4.

The San Antonio Spurs listed guard De'Aaron Fox as questionable for Tuesday's Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals at Frost Bank Center because of right ankle soreness. Fox was injured with 7:42 remaining in the third quarter Monday in a Game 4 loss at Minnesota that evened the series at 2-2. Timberwolves guard Ayo Dosunmu landed on Fox's right ankle while diving for a loose ball.

Jon Krawczynski: Chris Finch putting Ayo Dosunmu in the starting lineup tonight for the first time in these playoffs. Bet you'll see Shannon as the featured ball-handler with the second unit.

“Just the defensive ability to have five fouls, still go for the block, still be aggressive, still try to impose your will in the game,” Spurs veteran Harrison Barnes told The Athletic. “I think it just speaks to everything that he’s brought to this team, but especially in that moment.” Ayo Dosunmu and McDaniels would attack the lane, but then pass right out of it. You have to catch Victor Wembanyama completely off guard to get past him. “He’s a world-class defender. You’re always aware of him,” Dosunmu said. “Yeah, he’s a gift at that end of the court.”

Anthony Slater: Anthony Edwards is cleared for Game 3. Ayo Dosunmu is out going through his normal pregame workout. Game-time decision still, per Finch.
