Keerthika Uthayakumar: Will Riley (from Kitchener, ON) is the 22nd Canadian to be drafted in the first round of the NBA draft since 2011. He's the sixth Canadian taken in the first round over the last four drafts, joining Sharpe & Mathurin in 2022, Prosper in 2023 and Edey & George in 2024.
Former Magic wing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope said in the latest episode of his Dawg Talk Podcast (YouTube link) that he got a heads-up he would be traded to the Grizzlies before the agreement was reported last Sunday, so he wasn’t caught off guard when the news broke on social media. And while it took him a little time to wrap his head around the idea of changing teams again just one year after signing with Orlando, the 32-year-old is enthusiastic about what he’ll be able to bring to his new club in Memphis. “The more I talked about it, the more I got excited,” Caldwell-Pope said, singling out Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Zach Edey as new teammates he’s looking forward to playing with. “A lot of the guys over there I know and I’m going to enjoy playing with. Seeing them, playing against them and the style that they have, I think it fits right into my game.”
Police say they stopped former Purdue basketball star Zach Edey on May 1 driving 101 mph in a 55-mph zone on Indiana 25 in southern Tippecanoe County. Edey's northbound Kia Sorento passed the Indiana State Police trooper's southbound vehicle at 7:03 p.m., according to a probable cause affidavit. When the trooper caught up to the speeding car, Edey turned eastbound on Tippecanoe County Road 700 South and stopped. Edey has an initial hearing at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Tippecanoe Superior 6 on a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving.

Shams Charania: Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports told ESPN: "After consulting with the Grizzlies and multiple specialists, we decided this is the best approach for Zach long-term as it gets him back to 100% with no limitations. He will make a full recovery and be back better than ever."

Mitchell Robinson and Steven Adams lead the playoffs in fgOR% (the percentage of their team’s missed field goals that they personally rebounded), with 7-foot-4 rookie Zach Edey ranking fourth. All three are clear signs of the return of the big, physical, pound-the-glass center — a player type that looked nearly extinct at the height of the 5-out, spread-the-floor era.
Drew Hill: Kleiman still believes strongly in Edey, clearly: "The discourse around Zach Edey is so wild because the mistakes are so loud." Points out that the 7-4 guy with a 7-11 wingspan stands out, obviously.
Damichael Cole: Thunder coach Mark Daigneault spoke highly of Memphis, especially with their ability to drive the basketball. He called Jaren Jackson Jr. a “bully,” and named Desmond Bane, Ja Morant and Zach Edey, but he said his team is prepared. “Their stuff is hard to deal with, but it’s not complicated.”
So Steve Kerr and the Warriors correctly predicted that the Grizzlies would plant their starting center, the 7-foot-4 Zach Edey, on Butler, instructing Edey to sag way off of Butler on the perimeter. “He just told me: ‘I don’t care who guards me. Just give me space. Give me the ball. I’ll make something happen,’” Kerr said. “And that’s the beauty of Jimmy.”
