The Kings have been trying to trade Monk to open up a spot for Russell Westbrook, who is an unrestricted free agent. Sacramento wants to sign Westbrook and bring the former NBA MVP off the bench as its sixth man behind Dennis Schröder.
Kuminga, 22, almost certainly will return to Golden State for the upcoming season, given the team’s lack of interest in trade packages offered by Sacramento and Phoenix. As the source put it, “I don’t think he has a choice, because they’re not going to acquiesce to his trade requests. There’s no palatable sign-and-trade for the Warriors.”

Fresh off a brilliant rookie season with the Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento's Jaylen Wells returned home over the weekend for his first basketball camp in the capital city. Wells, who played with the Folsom Bulldogs, brought his camp to Sacramento High School on Sunday. A hundred basketball players in attendance — both boys and girls — from age 9 to high school, got the chance to work closely with the NBA star.
DeMarcus Cousins on jersey retirement in Sacramento: "Obviously it would be an honor. That was something that I definitely wanted and strived for as far as why I tried to go out and perform every single night. Accolade-wise, I feel like I did all the right things while I was in that jersey … As far as All-Stars, as far as All-NBA selections, numbers, gold medals. I put my work in. I think I earned my stripes. Obviously it's like you (Mike Bibby) said, it's a political thing. But as far as the work being done, I think I did what needed to be done to join the others up in the rafters.”

Jonathan Kuminga, one of the marquee names remaining on the market, has been frequently linked to the Kings over the last several months, and recently met with Scott Perry and Doug Christie. The Kuminga to Sacramento rumors have taken many different forms, including a sign-and-trade. Sam Amick addressed the situation on the Warriors Plus Minus podcast today. There, Amick reported that the Warriors “weren’t interested in Carter or DeRozan. As of a couple weeks ago, the Kings weren’t willing to pay Kuminga into the $20 million range (AAV).”
Word is that the Warriors' best offers to Kuminga have topped out in the two-year $40 million range. Kuminga's camp has continued to seek out sign-and-trade opportunities, with Sacramento and Phoenix still regarded as the most determined suitors, but Golden State is said to want a first-round pick in any sign-and-trade deal. The Suns do not have an available first-round pick to offer.
Former Raptors head coach and current Detroit Pistons executive Dwane Casey has thrown his hat in the ring and has met with MLSE president Keith Pelley, per sources. I'm told another NBA figure of note Pelley has met with is former Sacramento Kings general manager Monte McNair. The 2022-23 NBA executive of the year was let go by the Kings in April after leading Sacramento to one of its most successful runs in franchise history.
Kuminga met with Sacramento's brass this week, ESPN's Anthony Slater reported Friday on ESPN 1320 Sacramento, and the 22-year-old had a good discussion with general manager Scott Perry, assistant GM B.J. Armstrong and coach Doug Christie. "Kuminga had contact with the Kings in the last couple of days," Slater said. "It was the first time he met Scott Perry, and this wasn't in person, but it's the first time he's communicated with Scott Perry, Doug Christie and B.J. Armstrong. And from what I've gathered, he liked the pitch that Scott Perry gave. He's open-minded to the idea of Sacramento. "I think part of that -- I know part of that pitch -- is you're talking starting role, you're talking bigger opportunity than the Warriors are necessarily offering right now. And I think that's the part that shouldn't get lost in this situation. Jonathan Kuminga isn't just looking for the exact contract he wants in free agency. He's looking for the opportunity he wants on the court."

Michael Scotto: The New York Knicks are expected to add Charles Allen to their coaching staff, league sources told @hoopshype . Knicks head coach Mike Brown and Allen worked together previously on the Sacramento Kings. Brown is also expected to add Riccardo Fois whom he worked with in Sacramento.
Jake Fischer: Sacramento and New York were the two teams that I was told back in Las Vegas were the top contenders for Ben Simmons and his two best options. But we've also been told that Boston and Phoenix are teams that have ra made contact with his camp and his representation. The Suns I think make a little bit less sense now that they have brought in Jordan Goodwin after claiming him off waivers from the Lakers. And Boston, I think their situation is still a little bit murky being that they are absolutely still going to be open and engaged on trade conversations for Anfernee Simons and George Niang, but right now there's a bit of a Ben Simmons sweep stakes going on at the the bottom of the barrel of the NBA free agency open market period.
Spencer Davies: Isaiah Wong is gaining traction with a Western Conference team and Izaiah Brockington will commit to G League United Camp in Sacramento, @TheRGMedia has learned. Others have picked up overseas interest. All observations & gatherings from CSE’s Pro Day in Las Vegas below 🔗⬇️
League sources say that the Suns have also had some recent dialogue with former All-Star Ben Simmons, who I'm told has drawn interest since free agency began from Boston, New York and Sacramento.
