Sources tell The Sacramento Bee that Scott Perry will serve as Sacramento’s official on-stage representative when the lottery is held May 10 in Chicago. The Kings will go into the lottery with the fifth-best odds. They have a 45.2% chance of securing one of the top four picks and an 11.5% chance of securing the No. 1 pick, but they could fall as far as No. 9.

I spoke about all this with Donte DiVincenzo earlier this season and he told me that his move to Sacramento was considered such a certainty that he and his girlfriend had already begun receiving videos of Sacramento-area homes from a realtor in the name of "trying to get acclimated." He had also learned at the time that Antetokounmpo's brother Thanasis was heading a backchannel recruiting effort to convince Bogdanović that playing in Milwaukee with Giannis was the optimal next step in his career. "I was the first domino," DiVicenzo told The Stein Line.

DaeQwon Plowden: “Man, Sacramento has been welcoming to me. I definitely enjoyed my time here and enjoyed what I was able to do this season, and even just experiencing the city. You know, us East Coast guys, we don’t really get to experience some of the world and some of the West Coast sometimes, so it’s good to be out here and experience this side of the country. But honestly, right now, I’m unsure of what the future holds. I love Sacramento. I love the front office. But, you know, still got to weigh options and see what happens.”

Despite the setback and persistent trade rumors, Sabonis, who is signed through the 2027-28 season, remains focused on his return to elite form. “There’s a lot of uncertainty. I don’t know what that feels like, but I can control what I control, and that is getting back to that All-NBA player that I know I can be,” he noted. Addressing his future in Sacramento, he added, “I always want to get better as a player, no matter where I am, but I’m very happy here, you all know that. In things like this, you just have to focus on my knee, my rehab, getting back to the player I am.”

Veteran sportscaster Mark Jones is leaving ESPN after 36 years, but he isn’t leaving Sacramento. Jones told The Sacramento Bee he will return next season as the primary television play-by-play voice of the Kings on NBC Sports California, a job he has held since 2020 while continuing to work an exhaustive schedule for ESPN. “My plan is to be here for a long, long time,” Jones said prior to Friday’s game against the Golden State Warriors at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. “I love it here and I’ve been warmly received by the Kings.”

Brad Rowland: Hawks injury report for tonight against Sacramento: Dyson Daniels (left great toe sprain) is questionable. Jock Landale (right shoulder impingement) is questionable. Jonathan Kuminga (left knee injury management) is out. Onyeka Okongwu (left index finger sprain) is out.

Sam Perley: Sacramento's Precious Achiuwa (lower back soreness) and Killian Hayes (left foot soreness) have both been downgraded to out for tonight's game in Charlotte. Daeqwon Plowden (right foot soreness) is available.

Sean Cunningham: Kings win 126-122 after the Nets botch the inbound play. Nolan Traore stepping out of bounds and seals Brooklyn's fate. Sacramento gets its 19th win of the season.

Dennis Schroeder: “But I have to say one thing: with Sacramento, with Christie, it’s extremely difficult right now. I don’t want to build contact there right now, because the situation was extremely difficult, and I think what they said and what they did simply were not—uh, it just wasn’t the same, and that really, well, what does ‘hurt’ mean? I’m in a better situation now. But when someone says something, I’m always a fan of making sure we keep it that way. If I tell someone, ‘Hey, we’re going to do this and this,’ then I don’t suddenly go off to the right, you know? So, you should always keep your word, and unfortunately the Sacramento Kings didn’t do that. And that’s a shame. Of course I’m still grateful that they paid me and that they initially believed in the vision, and yeah, that’s why it’s still extremely difficult. But I think after the season, maybe we can sit down and talk about what bothered me, or rather what the situation was, why it is kind of the way it is now.”
