Still, Spoelstra indicated that Larsson has earned a rotation role, which would be a step up from last season’s limited action. “We just want to have him as an all-around player,” Spoelstra said, with the Heat to open training camp Sept. 30 at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. “Now, he’s a very smart player, he’s a heady player, very skilled. And so during summer league we just had him handle the ball for us, more for his player development. It’s not that we’re trying to turn him into a point guard. But the more skills he can add, it can help your team. “And he’s a physical player. We call him a bully with the basketball. He knows how to draw fouls. He knows how to get into the paint. He’s improving his passing. And we think with improved ballhandling, he’ll be able to take advantage of those skills even more.”

The Raptors spoke to several candidates for the team's top executive position, but Bobby Webster impressed Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment CEO Keith Pelley and other MLSE officials ever since the process for Ujiri's replacement started in late June. Pelley and Webster spent critical time together during the NBA's Summer League in Las Vegas, allowing MLSE to view Webster's management style and giving Webster the opportunity to explain his process in the role.

"It was tough," Toohey said of his Summer League experience. "The athleticism is obviously another level, and the pace of the game. Especially the Warriors; we had one of the highest-paced offences. And it felt like that. We'd be pretty gassed after a few minutes of getting up and down. We felt that wore teams down, and that put us in some games we maybe shouldn't have been in. That's definitely one part of it. "Then, figuring out that: I got drafted for a reason. They obviously see things in me, and believe in me, so it's just finding that internal confidence and being able to make a play in transition, or make a three when it comes your way."

Alex Golden: According to league sources, the Indiana Pacers did watch Victor Oladipo workout in Las Vegas during Summer League with SEVERAL other teams in attendance. However, Oladipo DID NOT have a private workout for the Pacers as reported here. I know this is almost 2 weeks old, but wanted to debunk this rumor after confirming with sources.

While most rookies take baby steps when they reach the league, Topić took his on crutches. But it took getting injured for him to realize how strong he really was. And after a lengthy recovery process and a warmup run in NBA Summer League, he's ready to hit his stride with OKC this upcoming season. "I didn't play a basketball game for a very long time, and that was really hard," Topić said. "But as you go through that process, you learn something about yourself that you didn't know you had. ... I took positives from it and learned from it."

Bronny James has been on a strong developmental path …

Bronny James has been on a strong developmental path since he was selected No. 55 overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2024 NBA Draft. While it was clear from early minutes in the NBA last season that he wasn’t quite ready, he made massive strides in the G League, and the difference between his Summer League showings in 2024 and 2025 proved that completely. Now, the Lakers have an intriguing decision ahead. Their guard rotation is relatively locked in with Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, Marcus Smart and Gabe Vincent. But injuries happen, and getting through an 82-game season requires more than just four players at the guard position. That is why Lakers assistant Nate McMillan, who recently appeared on “The Sports Shop” with Reese and K-Mac, believes that Bronny might be in line to get real rotational minutes this season.

“We’ve seen a lot of growth from year one. He had, I thought, a really good Summer League this year. A young guy like that coming in with this type of pressure that he came into the league with last year was unbelievable. When we played in the Las Vegas Summer League last year and this year, his games were sold out to see him. The fanbase has really, I think for the most part, been really supportive of him. He spent a lot of time in the G League this season and I really feel that helped him because when he came out into this Summer League…you could see the confidence. He was much more relaxed than he was last year. Everybody would have been as nervous as can be last season but he was much more relaxed this season. His shot was never broken but the confidence, you could see he was knocking down those shots, getting to the basket. Defensively, we wanted him to challenge himself to pick up the ball…I love Bronny. Great young man and we expect him to possibly get some minutes this year.”

Derrick White: Jayson Tatum says he doesn't respect me until I get a tech foul

Derrick White: There are guys on the team that have been giving me giving me hell about not having a technical foul. Jayson Tatum told me he doesn't respect me until I get a technical. We'll see. We'll see. Not against him, but I'm not going to go out of my way to get one. I'm going to get ejected. Q. Like Jordan Walsh? DW: Yes. I watched Jay Walsh in the summer league. I got inspired, and yeah, I think Jay Walsh was the only person to get ejected in summer league this year and so it's always great to be the only person to do something. So, congrats on that, Jay.
