Jake Fischer: RJ Barrett is certainly a name that I would tell you, and tell Raptors fans, to be on the lookout for as a potential trade candidate going out the door with his, you know, roughly $30 million in salary to go out and be a major buyer and see what they can achieve with RJ Barrett’s salary. He was someone that the Raptors discussed with the Pelicans in that Brandon Ingram trade conversation that did not result in an RJ Barrett heading out of Canada. He was not someone the Pelicans had much interest in at the time. But RJ Barrett’s representation is fully aware that he is someone that could be discussed in trades moving forward for the Raptors.
This offseason, the Raptors discussed trades for Kevin Durant, Jrue Holiday and Derrick White, which followed their February acquisition of Brandon Ingram. "This group under head coach Darko [Rajakovic] expects to really be a player in the playoff conversation here in the Eastern Conference," reports Jake Fischer. "They don't just want to be a play-in team. They want to be a team that really pushes for the postseason for the first time in quite some time. "So, what does Bobby Webster have in store now with this full endorsement as head of basketball operations to continue to upgrade this roster? We shall see. But I have the Raptors earmarked already entering this year. It's super early—it's August 20th—but when we get closer to December 15th and we get closer to the February trade deadline, I have the Raptors already earmarked as a buyer."
According to multiple sources, some of the external candidates that were interviewed for the president position pushed back on recent roster decisions made by Ujiri and his front office. One went as far as calling the trade to acquire Ingram in February a “desperate Hail Mary.” They questioned the team’s post-championship leadership and internal development and pointed out its salary crunch – going into the new season with the league’s eighth-highest payroll despite winning 55 games over the past two years and having the 21st-highest projected win total for the 2025-26 campaign, per FanDuel.
GloRilla may have found herself a baller ... she and NBA star Brandon Ingram were seen getting close at a Cabo nightclub -- and left together in the wee hours of the morning. In new footage -- obtained by TMZ -- the rapper is seen all over the Toronto Raptor ... wrapping her arms around his neck as they swayed together on the dance floor early Monday morning.
[SiriusXM NBA Radio] Rich Paul: "Having him (Brandon Ingram) traded from New Orleans and then doing his deal during the season with the Raptors... He is making 40 million dollars a year for the next 3 years that probably wouldn't be there for him if we get to quote-unquote free agency."

According to multiple sources, Ujiri was the “driving force” behind the Brandon Ingram deal at last February’s trade deadline, while others in the room were less convinced about the fit and the timing. To just assume that Webster would pick up where Ujiri left off might be misguided. They could use a fresh perspective after missing the playoffs in four of the past five seasons, but they don’t necessarily need to look outside of the organization for that. The grass isn’t always greener.
Josh Lewenberg: Brandon Ingram: “We’re trying to build championship habits. What I saw is that they play hard. They play really, really hard… They already found their identity on the defensive end and I can’t come in and mess that up. I gotta be playing as hard as them.”
Josh Lewenberg: Brandon Ingram on his recovery from the severe ankle sprain: “I’ve never experienced that, especially from an ankle injury - it always took 2 or 3 weeks. So, it was different. It was way more swollen than usual. I didn’t know when I was going to be healthy… I’m finally here.”
The last update we got on Brandon (Ingram), I think he got a couple of injections at the end of the season. The plan was for him to be back in May. Was that the timeline, and how is he doing now?" Darko Rajakovic: "Brandon is doing really well. He's put in a lot of work since the end of the season. His daily commitment and work ethic are outstanding. He's pain-free and moving well. He’s gotten stronger and is in a really great spot. As of today, he's cleared for full contact — one-on-one, three-on-three, five-on-five — all the things we do in the summer. He’s cleared for all of it."

Josh Lewenberg: Brandon Ingram was cleared for contact today. Has been training with the team, doing individual work. Next step will be to start scrimmaging over the coming days. Rajakovic: “He’s pain-free, he’s moving well, he got stronger. He’s in a really, really great spot.”

Eric Koreen: Bobby Marks' report about the cap growing by 7% in 2026-27 will have a big impact around the league, given many thought it would be 10% again. All contracts — including Scottie Barnes' and Brandon Ingram's — with maximum 8% raises will be growing faster than the cap, creating a tighter squeeze. Raps have five players guaranteed for 26-27 not including some likely club options being picked up: Dick, Walter + more: Barnes, Ingram, IQ, Barrett, CMB (assuming 120% of rookie scale). They will get paid 150.6 M. Tax at 7% is about 201M. At 10% it would have been 206.7M. Real difference.
That was Holmgren’s first professional season, but he didn’t play a game because of a foot injury. He’d been cleared for full contact in April. In anticipation of the Play-In game against the Pelicans, he was used as the scout team version of Brandon Ingram and lit up the starters a bit in practice. “The stuff he was doing against us, we was like, ‘Damn!’” Lu Dort once told The Athletic. “He was hitting some tough shots. I’m like, ‘Man!’ Yeah. That’s gonna help. We kind of saw the vision.”
