Tom Orsborn: Luke Kornet said it was a “joy” to be part of this team: “We have a lot of great players and a lot of young players and I feel like everyone bought in and were united and about as free and selfless of a group I've ever seen.”

Michael C. Wright: Luke Kornet will be available tonight, per Mitch Johnson.

Q. Have you heard from any of the Boston guys during the run here? And I know Derrick White kind of talked to you a little bit about what to expect in San Antonio and making that decision. Like what has it been like to have a guy like that in your corner as you've made this transition? And have you heard from anybody else through this run here? Luke Kornet: Yeah, I heard from guys, I've been in touch with them. There's a group of us that are still like kind of texting throughout the year and whatever. As for Derrick, there's been radio silence. You know the type of guy he is where he's one to foster and hold a grudge, so you kind of want to let that kind of just simmer and then give it the space. And unfortunately you have to play them twice a year, so you see them then, but I mean, there's a hostile act that happened when we played them last, so I don't know if we're exactly on speaking terms.

Spurs Nation: Spurs center Luke Kornet, on his favorites from Knicks super fan Ben Stiller: “Realistically it’s probably Dodgeball, maybe Meet the Parents, but I think my favorite character is in Heavyweights, which is kind of like a precursor to the Globo Gym. ... ‘Lunch has been canceled due to a lack of hustle’ is an all-timer.”

Ian Begley: In its 2-minute report, NBA finds that referees in Game 2 of Knicks-Spurs made no errors in final 2 minutes. Every call was either a correct call or a correct non-call. On Luke Kornet kick ball late, NBA says: “Although Kornet (SAS) lifts his foot, he does not intentionally kick the loose ball.”

The 7-foot-1 Luke Kornet bent down to the 5-foot-1 sister, and she placed her hand on his head. They each closed their eyes. She prayed for the holy spirit to be with him. The moment went viral. The Spurs won. Kornet, who finished with six points, seven rebounds and two blocks off the bench, said afterward that the sisters needed to be in Oklahoma City for Game 6. "We've got to get 'em on the plane," he said.

Spurs Nation: Spurs center Luke Kornet, on the reaction to his game-changing chase-down block: “Someone from the bench yelled, ‘Who is it? LeBron James?’ We’ll see which one has more staying power in the record books of history.”

In the first half, they broke out ice coverages to keep SGA on the right side of the floor, so that he couldn’t easily hop into a stepback and would have to completely flip his hips around to get a shot off. It also kept Kornet far enough back that the MVP couldn’t just drive all the way around the coverage to get to the rim or make the kinds of cross-court kick-out passes he doesn’t usually do.

Before Game 4 of the Western Conference finals tipped off Sunday night in San Antonio, the Spurs received an early blessing. A group of nuns seated near the floor at Frost Bank Center was shown on the arena video board blessing Spurs center Luke Kornet before the matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder, drawing one of the loudest crowd reactions of the night before the game even started.

The group of nuns is part of a community of Spurs fans from the San Antonio chapter of the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco. They used to appear regularly at Spurs events over the past couple of decades, though they had not attended a game this season. Some fans credit them for the Spurs’ draft luck, as the nuns root for and pray for the Spurs. Kornet is a devout Catholic who used to regularly write about his faith on his blog. In an interview with the website Sojourners, one of the nuns, Sister Bernadette Mota, said Kornet was one of her favorite players on the team because, “I just really look up to the way he’s not afraid to share his faith on the public scene.”

Brandon Rahbar: No surprise: De’Aaron Fox and Luke Kornet expected to play tonight.

Tom Orsborn: Mitch had no update on Fox & Kornet, but he said of De’Aaron’s sore right ankle, “It’s not going away for as long as we’re playing, I believe.”
