Tom Orsborn: Vassell (sore ankle) is out for tonight’s game here in Sacramento. Kornet (sore knee) and Harper (bruised calf) are questionable.

Luke Kornet: “Yeah, obviously, free agency is a pretty strange endeavor. Honestly, when evaluating where to go, San Antonio was an option that felt really good, and it obviously has a great track record that speaks for itself. But, to be honest, it was frankly bittersweet. It kind of came and went in waves because, although I was excited for the next challenge and being in this new place, at the same time there’s just the reality of moving. We had been in Boston for so many years and had so many great relationships. We also have three small children, so you build quite a community, and now you’re heading to a place where, really, we didn’t know anybody. So, there was definitely a part of it where I felt very good about it in terms of taking a step forward in life, career, responsibility, and those types of things. It felt like the doors just kind of opened in the right way. But frankly, there wasn’t a lot of celebration. I know that, for a lot of people, and definitely in a certain way, it meant a lot. But at the same time, there’s also the reality of a lot of difficult things, a lot of saying goodbye, and a lot of saying goodbye to a community that you had been in for so long and had accomplished a lot with together.”

Mr. Kornet’s post infuriated Natalie Clark, who goes by NatsHoney and is the president of Strippers United, a labor organization for strippers. “It was clear to me that it’s not that you’re thinking about us as workers, you’re just saying that we don’t belong in any traditional place within society,” Ms. Clark said in a phone interview. After the event was canceled, the Freedom Collective and eight other organizations published a letter in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution thanking the league for stepping in. “I’ve talked with traffickers that have said they have taken victims into strip clubs to strip before they were sold to desensitize them,” said Susan Norris, the founder of Rescuing Hope, an organization that helps sex trafficking victims, who signed the letter. She said the promotion would have been harmful to women who had experienced that, and said she also believes strip clubs are inherently exploitative.

Tom Orsborn: Just landed at LAX to see the Spurs will be without Dylan Harper (right calf contusion) and also Luke Kornet (right knee soreness) when they face the Clippers on Monday night.

Noa Dalzell: Luke Kornet on Jayson Tatum’s availability: “In my time with him, I’ve seen him play through every little kind of nagging injury, very rarely ever made exception. Usually, it’s the staff having to talk him down from playing. To see him back out there, and contributing right away, is not really surprising.”

Horford’s current teammate, Draymond Green, pushed back on Kornet’s criticism on his podcast “The Draymond Green Show.” “I think to point out that they have esteem issues because that's the line of work they chose, I actually think is less protective of women because you're condemning something – it's actually an art,” Green said. “I don't know if you've ever been, but if you see it in action, it's actually a form of art – that some choose to indulge in and some choose not to indulge in. “But to say that because a woman decides that that's the art that they want to partake in and that the customer wants to take in, I think is reflective on society's thoughts and how they once view things."

This week the Atlanta Hawks “announced a special one-night collaboration to celebrate the city’s iconic cultural institution Magic City” during the team’s home game against Orlando on Monday, March 16. In its press release the Hawks failed to acknowledge that this place is, as the business itself boasts, “Atlanta’s premier strip club.” Given this fact, I would like to respectfully ask that the Atlanta Hawks cancel this promotional night with Magic City. The NBA should desire to protect and esteem women, many of whom work diligently every day to make this the best basketball league in the world. We should promote an atmosphere that is protective and respectful of the daughters, wives, sisters, mothers, and partners that we know and love.

Allowing this night to go forward without protest would reflect poorly on us as an NBA community, specifically in being complicit in the potential objectification and mistreatment of women in our society. Regardless of how a woman finds her way into the adult entertainment industry, many in this space experience abuse, harassment, and violence to which they should never be subjected.

I’d like to encourage the league, its owners, employees and fans to hold the Atlanta Hawks to a higher standard of what they find worthy of promoting. I and others throughout the league were surprised by and object to the Hawks’ decision. We desire to provide an environment where fans of all ages can safely come and enjoy the game of basketball and where we can celebrate the history and culture of communities in good conscience. The celebration of a strip club is not conduct aligned with that vision. Please join me in petitioning the Atlanta Hawks to cancel this promotion so as to ensure that the NBA remains a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for everyone involved.

Tom Orsborn: Spurs have upgraded Luke Kornet to questionable for Sunday’s game vs. New Orleans after he missed Thursday’s win at Utah.

Tom Orsborn: Mitch Johnson indicated Luke Kornet (adductor tightness) won't be out long... Also, just heard from Spurs here in Utah that Jeremy Sochan (illness) has been upgraded from questionable to available.
