The NBA, the San Antonio Spurs and Emirates are hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday to officially unveil refurbished spaces at the Denver Heights Community Center. As a part of its NBA Cares Finals Legacy Project presented by Emirates, the community center’s revamped gym, multipurpose room and “upgraded gaming equipment for youth and families” will be on display for use for the first time.

Among the attendees for the ceremony will be: · NBA Commissioner Adam Silver · NBA Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum · Spurs Sports & Entertainment CEO RC Buford · Spurs players Harrison Barnes, Lindy Waters III, Mason Plumlee, Bismack Biyombo and David Jones Garcia

“I don’t remember,” Wembanyama said in his postgame news conference before ignoring a follow-up. He wasn’t interested in the speech going to anyone else but his teammates. Thankfully, teammate Lindy Waters III remembered. “We just got to leave it all out there,” Waters told The Athletic when asked what Wembanyama’s message was. “Back’s against the wall, and we’ve had multiple chances this series to capitalize and we just let it go.” Waters said Wembanyama talked about how they were playing with “life after,” the idea that earlier in the series, there was always a next game to get things back on track. Once they reached Game 6, there was no more life after. Just the afterlife of a season full of promise.

Tom Orsborn: Spurs guard Lindy Waters III will miss tonight’s final preseason game, the opener on Oct. 22 and possibly another game or two due to an upcoming procedure to correct a lingering eye issue, a team spokesman said.

“At his age, it’s eye-opening to see somebody come in and demand excellence and demand greatness,” said Spurs newcomer Lindy Waters III. “He can’t do that without putting himself on that pedestal and making sure that nobody can come at him and say anything. … It’s easy for him to demand that and it makes me want to work harder.” Now that the season is almost here, Wembanyama feels reinvigorated. “I’m so much more under control and my conditioning has gotten so much better, but that comes at a price and what I’ve done this summer is world class,” Wembanyama said. “Even in the field of professional sports, I don’t think many people have trained the way we’ve trained this summer.”

Michael Scotto: Update: The San Antonio Spurs signed Lindy Waters to a one-year, partially guaranteed deal worth $500K, sources told @hoopshype . Waters is a career 37% 3-point shooter over his four NBA seasons combined with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, and Detroit Pistons.
