Keerthika Uthayakumar: Will Riley (from Kitchener, ON) is the 22nd Canadian to be drafted in the first round of the NBA draft since 2011. He's the sixth Canadian taken in the first round over the last four drafts, joining Sharpe & Mathurin in 2022, Prosper in 2023 and Edey & George in 2024.
“As a Canadian, representing my country is something I definitely want to do in the future,” Olivier-Maxence Prosper said Tuesday at the Mavs Academy Hoop Camp presented by Chick-fil-A. “I see the ’28 Olympics as a goal of mine, for sure.” However, the Montreal native who played on Canada’s Under-19 national team in 2021 knows there are a few intermediate steps he must complete before he can address that major goal. “We’re in 2025, so we got three years until then (the Olympics),” he said. “Every year is building. By that time, I’ll be, what, five years into the league? Then it’ll be our time to take that spot.”
Prosper played 52 games last season before a fracture in his right wrist sent him to surgery and the sideline for the rest of the season. He averaged 3.9 points and 2.4 rebounds while playing 11.2 minutes per game. His rehab has gone well and the hope is that he can resume full basketball activities by late June or early July. “The wrist is moving a lot better,” he said. “I’m actually really close to starting basketball work, meaning dribbling and shooting with my right hand. I’m a couple days away from that and then full recovery should be by the end of this month, early next month.”
Mike Curtis: What is O-Max Prosper expecting if the #Mavs draft Cooper Flagg: "I think he's going to bring a lot to our team. He's super versatile, has the drive to win, super competitive. Can defend. Offensively, he's a Swiss Army knife. He's a great addition to our team & someone we can plug wherever we need to help us win."

Mike Curtis: O-Max Prosper on how his right wrist is feeling: "Great. Rehab is going great. The process is where it's supposed to be & I'll be back soon." Is there a timeline or date for when he'll be fully healthy? "Not an exact date, but I would say late this month or early next month."
Dallas Mavericks PR: Mavs Injury Update vs LAL: Anthony Davis (left adductor strain) - AVAILABLE Dante Exum (left hand fracture) - AVAILABLE Jaden Hardy (right ankle sprain) - OUT Kyrie Irving (left knee surgery) - OUT Olivier-Maxence Prosper (right wrist sprain) - OUT
What have your conversations with Kyrie been like since he suffered his season-ending ACL tear? Anthony Davis: In basketball, man, s— happens. [It’s] Kind of been going around the league, not even just the league but in sports in general, freakish injuries. I saw [Irving’s] play. Once he stepped in, he went down for a split second. The first thing I thought was, ‘Please, don’t let it be his ACL.’ And I went to go check on him, and he said it right then and there. I was like, ‘[expletive] .’ I could just tell how it was. We went from that to Gaff [Gafford] with his knee, Ex [Exum] with his hand, and O-Max [Prosper] with his hand. Then you had be Will [Brandon Williams] with his hammy and D-Live [Lively] already had his foot, J-Hardy [Jaden Hardy] with his ankle. Like f— man, we can’t catch the break, Caleb [Martin], with everything he got going on. PJ’s [Washington’s] ankle. But credit to these guys who around the clock getting treatment and doing everything we can to get back on the floor to make this push. But in [Irving’s] instance, during that time, I let him have time to himself, his team, and everything. And then obviously, I was in the back with him, gave him some space, and then once he did everything he needed to do, he came back to the locker room where I was at. And his whole mood was just different as far as he was like, ‘Hey listen, ain’t nothing I can do about it.’ His mindset went from ‘f—’ to let’s get ready to start this rehab process and get back. So that’s the opposite, tough injury, but I know he’s had some pretty significant injuries, the kneecap and everything, and he came back the same Kai. So, it’s my job to hold the fort down the rest of the season and then go into next season with some of the offseason things that we’re pretty sure we’re going to do. Then, have him have his time to get back healthy, get back right, come in, and be Kyrie again.
