— Toronto Raptors (@Raptors) January 13, 2026

A few years ago Kyle Lowry told reporters he would never accept a role as a bench warmer or an unofficial coach just to reach his 20th NBA season. Well, allegedly. “Really?” said Lowry, cursing for emphasis. “I lied.”

Kyle Lowry on what it will mean to have his jersey retired in Toronto: “Y'all ever see me cry?… If it does & when it does, it will be a super emotional day. I put a lot of blood, sweat & tears in that 7." He also restated his plan to sign a one-day contract to retire a Raptor.

Josh Lewenberg: Does Nick Nurse think that Kyle Lowry is a future Hall of Famer? “Yep, no doubt. No doubt.”

Josh Lewenberg: Nick Nurse on the possibility of getting Lowry (who’s only played in 5 games this season) on the floor in this back-to-back vs the Raptors: “Let’s see if we can throw him in these next few days.” He says he’ll talk to Kyle about it before the game and see how he’s feeling.

Chicago Bulls: Josh Giddey has his 22nd career triple-double! He passes Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant, Kyle Lowry, Michael Ray Richardson, and Chris Webber on the NBA's all-time list.

Kyle Lowry on Joel Embiid: "I'm holding him accountable. Honestly, he's holding himself accountable. He's an unbelievable person. I think he's bought in. The injuries take tolls on us. I think that took a lot of toll on him. Everything that people say about him...he's all in"

Gina Mizell: Kyle Lowry is realistic about his role in Year 20: "I know my role this year ... my role is to help these guys (the young guards). I understand." Does say his hip, which hindered him throughout last season, feels great.
Adam Aaronson: Kyle Lowry, asked about wearing the Allen Iverson era jerseys, rattled off a bunch of '01 Sixers as he talked about how cool it will be to wear those jerseys. "We should bring back Hip Hop for a couple of games."

Adam Aaronson: Kyle Lowry on why he's still playing: "I love the game of basketball & I have had the ability to play professional basketball for 20 years and basketball my whole life. You dream of playing basketball... I have some *unbelievable* teammates." Mentions Tyrese Maxey, Jared McCain, Joel Embiid, Paul George.

Adam Aaronson: Kyle Lowry on his Prime Video role: "Shoutout to Amazon, I think they're looking for a new way to teach the game... A current player can do both." Lowry says they approached him and it won't be a difficult balance. He won't be in studio but is looking forward to sharing insight.

Kyle Lowry is joining a new team, without leaving his current team. Prime Video announced Thursday that it has hired Lowry -- the Philadelphia 76ers guard who is about to enter what will be the 20th season of his pro career -- as an NBA on Prime analyst. It's a multiyear deal, with Lowry "making select appearances" this season, Prime said, adding that he will have "increased responsibilities in the future."
