Shams Charania: Portland traded Damian Lillard for Jrue Holiday, Toumani Camara, and assets in 2023 -- then Holiday to Boston for Robert Williams III, Malcolm Brogdon and assets. Now, the Blazers have both Lillard and Holiday, plus Williams, Camara, a 2029 first-rounder and two Bucks swaps.
Gary Washburn on Jayson Tatum recruiting Damian Lillard: I just was told that they're communicating and Tatum is recruiting. I mean, Tatum is the face of the franchise. So, yeah, you're told he's recruiting. I don't know if they're like FaceTiming every day or they're on Snapchat and sharing videos and you know, ‘look at my uh rehab video. I'm swimming. Yeah, I'm swimming. What about you? What are you up to, Dame?’ Like, I don't know if it's that deep but they are communicating and I think we all know Tatum's going to be here for a long time and I think that the players who have come to Boston, from Kevin Garnett to Ray Allen to Isaiah Thomas, even our friend Marcus Morris, guys who we traditionally thought might not like it here ended up really liking it in Boston and didn't want to leave, all the way now to Jrue Holiday.
Kerry Eggers: Brad Stevens, president of basketball operations for @celtics , on the guard he traded to @trailblazers , @Jrue_Holiday11 : "I think he stamped his Hall of fame candidacy here, if he didn't already have it. We'll look forward watching and following him from afar. He is as good a person as you could ever have in your building and as part of your team." #RipCity
According to multiple league sources, concerns were raised because of “new findings” during Jrue Holiday’s medical examinations. Sources said they were not substantial enough for the deal to be nullified, but they did give the Trail Blazers pause. So, Boston agreed to move forward with the deal without the 2030 and 2031 second-round picks that Portland originally agreed to send to Boston. Sources declined to reveal specifics of Holiday’s situation but stressed that the point guard was continuing his normal offseason training regimen without restriction. He is expected to be fully healthy for the start of training camp, too.
Sean Highkin: The Anfernee Simons-Jrue Holiday trade is now official, without the previously reported second-round picks going from Portland to Boston. The final deal is a straight 1-for-1 player swap.

Kevin Durant: So, do you think the profile of players change? Like I'm been thinking I'm like I don't know if the 6-2 and under guard is at a premium no more as a starter. Maybe as a backup. But you have to be… LeBron James: We just talked about this in the last... Steve Nash: It's gotten compressed. It's that like either Donovan Mitchell, Drew Holiday 6-3, Lou Dort… Durant: You can't get picked on defense. That's the thing cuz we playing such a pick on game that they will really literally, if you can't guard they will bring you up every play. And six foot, 6-1, and you're not a bulldog like a Davion Mitchell, Jrue Holiday on the defensive side, or you not an offense that's flat out savant like Kyrie Irving, where you can score on dudes seven feet easily in ISO, then I just can't see it.
Yossi Gozlan: The Damian Lillard trade had risk and the worst-case scenario ended up happening. They're down Jrue, an unprotected first, two swaps, and now have to pay Lillard $22.5 million a year not to play for the next five years.
Senate Republican Leader Daniel Bonham (R-District 26) clearly loves the Portland Trail Blazers, but he wasn’t too thrilled with the team’s recent trade ahead of Wednesday night’s NBA draft. The Oregon Senate unanimously approved HCR 40, a resolution recognizing the importance of the Portland Trail Blazers to the state, on Tuesday.
While doing so, he criticized the pending trade announced Monday, sending guard Anfernee Simons, 26, to the Boston Celtics for guard Jrue Holiday, 35. The trade can’t be finalized until early July. “Interestingly, last night I was watching the news and I saw that we traded Anfernee Simons,” Bonham said while stroking the side of his head. “And I thought, darn it, anyway, I’m gonna carry this bill tomorrow talking about my hometown team, wanting to stay in Oregon, and I think they just did something crazy.”
Jared Weiss: Brad Stevens couldn't talk about conversations he's had with Kristaps Porziņģis and Jrue Holiday after agreeing to trade them, but said, "Any time you make trades, those are tough conversations. I tried my best in general to say what our priorities are that we've discussed here."

Aaron J. Fentress: Two NBA sources have now told me that the report that guard Jrue Holiday is unhappy about being traded to the Blazers is untrue. We will all find out from him in due time. #RipCity
Yossi Gozlan: The Boston Celtics have reduced their luxury tax penalty by nearly $210 million by trading Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday for Anfernee Simons and Georges Niang. $238 million in total savings so far and are now $4.5 million below the second apron.
According to one source close to the situation, Holiday is “pissed” he’s going to Portland. “Now, if he winds up staying there, I’m sure he’ll be the professional he’s always been and make a positive contribution,” said the source. “But he’s not happy with this deal. I’ll be surprised if Portland doesn’t move him on if they can, because right now he does not want to go there.
Bobby Marks: Trading Kristaps Porzingis now puts Boston under the second apron. The Porzingis and Jrue Holiday trades save Boston a projected $180M in tax penalties.
