Kuminga wants a fresh start with a new team and the Warriors have given him reason to question their commitment to him. He likes the opportunity the Kings have presented, but the Warriors seem unwilling to accept a package featuring Devin Carter, Dario Saric and draft compensation, which could a protected first-round pick or multiple second-round picks. The Warriors would probably be quick to pull the trigger on a deal involving Keegan Murray or Keon Ellis. However, a source with knowledge of trade conversations told The Sacramento Bee that Murray and Ellis have not been discussed and both are considered off limits in talks for Kuminga.
Jonathan Kuminga, one of the marquee names remaining on the market, has been frequently linked to the Kings over the last several months, and recently met with Scott Perry and Doug Christie. The Kuminga to Sacramento rumors have taken many different forms, including a sign-and-trade. Sam Amick addressed the situation on the Warriors Plus Minus podcast today. There, Amick reported that the Warriors “weren’t interested in Carter or DeRozan. As of a couple weeks ago, the Kings weren’t willing to pay Kuminga into the $20 million range (AAV).”
Matt George: On the Kings/Russell Westbrook front: Both parties have been talking and have had mutual interest since free agency began. That's been well known. From what I gather, the Kings are still looking to move a player like Devin Carter or Malik Monk before they can bring Westbrook in. The Kings have a log jam at the guard position and very little financial flexibility to work with.

Sacramento Kings guard Devin Carter is well aware that his name has been discussed in trade talks for Golden State Warriors forward Jonathan Kuminga. Carter addressed the trade rumors for the first time Monday after Sacramento’s summer league team held its first practice at Golden 1 Center. Asked how he is processing the speculation and uncertainty, Carter mentioned his father, Anthony Carter, who spent 12 years in the NBA with the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors. “My pops played for 13 years,” Carter said. “He’s been traded a lot. I just talk to him about how he handled it. That will stay between us, what me and my pops be talking about, but I just come in to work every day, obviously thankful for the opportunity to be here, show up with a ready-to-work mentality all the time, and it is what it is. It’s a business.”
Brenden Nunes: Devin Carter said he’s been functioning as the primary PG for Sacramento early in their Summer League practices. The guard said he put a lot of time into improving in that role (making reads) this offseason and is excited to show it in Vegas.
They’ve drawn inbound calls in recent days, most notably from the Sacramento Kings, who floated an offer of Devin Carter, Dario Šarić and two second-round picks, league sources said. The Warriors have so far balked at what they felt was a buy-low attempt, league sources said.

The Kings have expressed a desire to acquire a first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, league sources told HoopsHype. Amid those conversations, Sacramento has gauged the trade market on guards Malik Monk and Devin Carter, sources said.
Sean Cunningham: Kings rookie Devin Carter is out of Monday’s game in Indiana with a right shoulder contusion.
Chris Biderman: Devin Carter had his right arm in a sling post game. He left with a right shoulder injury.
