What’s your reaction to your extension? Spencer: “I’m super excited. There’s no other organization that I’d rather compete with. I’m super grateful. It makes you think about all of the people that helped you get to this point. But I’m more motivated than ever. I told Zach [Kleiman] that I’m going to prove him right every single day. I’m going to get after it for him.”
In that game, what sparked the trash talk you had with KD after making a big 3? Spencer: “Two competitors going at it, man. It was a heated game. We had gone on a little bit of a run. There was a specific play that got the trash talking going. But I have nothing but respect for KD and all that he has accomplished. But in the moment, I’m a competitor and I’m trying to win. So I don’t really care who we’re playing against. I credit my teammates for finding me in the corner. But I was just happy that we won the game. That’s all I care about. I have nothing but respect for KD.”

Shams Charania: The Memphis Grizzlies and guard Cam Spencer have agreed to a two-year, $4.5 million fully guaranteed contract, sources tell ESPN. Mark Bartelstein and Ross Aroyo of @PrioritySports finalized a deal with Memphis execs after Spencer had flashes of strong play as a two-way rookie.
Chris Herrington: Haven’t seen this anywhere, but in addition to a qualifying offer for Santi Aldama, the Grizzlies also extended a two-way qualifying offer to make Cam Spencer a restricted free agent.
Is there anything about life on the two-way contract going back and forth that would be interesting to shed light on for readers who don’t know as much about that process? Cam Spencer: As a two-way player, your schedule is changing by the hour at times. You will literally be on a road trip, maybe going to practice or planning to go to practice, and then you get a call, and you have to leave the city within an hour to get back to the Grizzlies from being with the Hustle (Memphis’ G League affiliate). You play in the Hustle game for 30 minutes, then come back up top, and maybe you only get a few minutes. It’s a lot of just staying ready for your opportunities when they come, and that’s a lot of the NBA, especially on the two-way contract.
