The criminal case against Ben Gordon — a former star basketball player at the University of Connecticut and first-round NBA draft pick who was facing multiple charges stemming from an outburst at a local juice shop in the hours after the Huskies won the National Championship in 2023 — was dismissed on Monday. Gordon appeared in state Superior Court in Stamford where the case was dismissed after his successful completion of a supervised diversionary program.
Gordon was arrested in Stamford and charged with numerous misdemeanors on April 4, 2023, the day of his 40th birthday and hours after the UConn men's basketball team won the National Championship. Police said at the time that the British-born former NBA player pulled a folding knife on an employee at a juice business following a disagreement, and later struggled with police officers who arrived on scene.

A Superior Court judge has granted Ben Gordon, a former star basketball player at the University of Connecticut and first-round NBA draft pick, the opportunity to walk free on multiple criminal charges that were filed against him nearly a year ago after an outburst at a local juice shop.
On Monday, Judge Alex Hernandez granted Gordon admission into a supervised diversionary program that, if successfully completed, can lead to the charges he faces being dropped. To complete the program, Gordon must avoid any new arrests, continue his mental health treatment and take his medication over the next year and a half.

Former NBA guard Ben Gordon pleaded not guilty Tuesday to weapons and threatening charges in connection with a disturbance at a Connecticut juice shop in which police responding to reports of his erratic behavior forced him to the ground and handcuffed him.
Gordon may seek a diversionary program to settle the criminal charges, his lawyer Darnell Crosland said. Gordon is due to return to court next month. Gordon, who was born in England and grew up in Mount Vernon, New York, was arrested in April.
