Leandro Barbosa: "When I first came to the Phoenix Suns, I thought I was going to live the same way I live in Brazil. I used to go to practice riding my bike, doing my things, like regular, we simple. But Arizona is f*cking hot, man. It's hot than a motherf*cker. So I couldn't done that, you know? I did it a couple times, but, you know, so the transition for me to understand, you know, like the two practice a day, you know, like how many hours we will be practicing on the training camp, you know, I wasn't used to that."
Leandro Barbosa: "The hours to sleep is the most important in your body, you know? You got to have that eight hours, you have to. The other thing that helps me too, I don't drink. I been around with so many players that, you know, drink a lot, a lot. I think me and Goran, we be with some players. Goran Dragic: Listen, listen, in my defense, when I signed my first contract, I was 15. I was 15. So I was in a locker room with the grown-ass men, they were smoking, they were drinking. I was like, 'Whoa,' you know? That was part of life."
Draymond Green: ‘Leandro Barbosa is a teammate that I still keep in contact with and was one of the best teammates I’ve ever had, one of the best guys you can be around. Having a veteran like that, the impact he had was his experience in the league and sharing those experiences with me as a young guy when things weren’t going right. He was one of the guys who would talk to you, pull you to the side, and say, ‘Hey man, work on this, try to do this, try to do that.’ He was just a great veteran leader and a great presence in our locker room, which was ultimately why he was brought back as a coach. He was an incredible guy to be around. Obviously, coming from Brazil, his outlook on travel and how much one should travel to gain different experiences in this world was big for me. When I first played with Leandro Barbosa, the only place I had ever been out of the country to was Canada, and I was just driving up to this camp I used to work at, Olympia Sports Camp, north of Toronto, way out in the boonies. Outside of that, I had never traveled outside of the United States. His thoughts on that and different things really stayed with me. Most importantly, his impact on us winning was huge. We all won our first championship together.
Draymond Green: His experience was huge in that. You’re talking about a guy who had played in conference finals. He was one of the guys who, when we got to that moment, would say, ‘Hey man, these things happen, we’ve got to do this.’ Leandro Barbosa was great. The vibe that he brought around the team, the vibe that you need to have around the team, he helped me understand that. LB was great, man. One of my favorite teammates of all time, a guy who I still keep in close contact with today. One of my favorite teammates for sure.”

Draymond Green: "Steve Kerr took over, and Steve Kerr brought in a way of winning that none of us had ever experienced. He had won at a level that none of us had ever won at, and he brought that to the fold. He brought a new offense to the fold, um, that really unlocked and unleashed Steph Curry and Klay Thompson and myself. Um, I started—David Lee got hurt. I started, you know, that changed some things. Uh, Shaun Livingston signing to the—to the Warriors. Uh, Andre Iguodala the year before signing to the Warriors. You know, I think there were several things that happened. You know, getting Leandro Barbosa, Speights—like, we shored up our bench. We had incredible depth, you know, and so... I think, uh, just like the other teams that was trying to get over the hump and didn’t the first time, I think it was a little bit of the same for us."

Sean Cunningham: Doug Christie's Sacramento Kings coaching staff is official: Associate head coach Mike Woodson, Bobby Jackson, Mike Miller, Chris Darnell & Leandro Barbosa are assistants. Dipesh Mistry elevated to asst. coach/player development. Paul Jesperson (head of player development) joined by Jimmy Alapag & Garrius Adams. Will Scott (coaching asst/advance scout), Shandon "Biggie" Goldman as head video coordinator & Steph Ingo as asst. video coordinator.
Anthony Slater: The Kings will not retain lead assistant Jay Triano as part of Doug Christie’s staff, sources tell me and @Sam_Amick. Continues organizational overhaul: Jawad Williams and three other assistants also out. Leandro Barbosa will remain as part of Christie’s reworked staff.

That would be, in this instance, “big brother.” Barbosa, 41, now an assistant coach with the Sacramento Kings, is almost eight years older than Thompson. Which might be why he is willing to offer counsel for the most important decision of his friend’s professional life. “He's going to have to be really patient,” Barbosa said. “I hope he comes back to the Warriors. I don't know what's the situation, but it's going to be tough. I know the money (in NBA contracts) is going up, and he's been thinking about the money. “But I think he needs to be happy. I think that's the most important thing.”
