Shams Charania: Mason Plumlee is signing a deal with the San Antonio Spurs for the remainder of the season, Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tells ESPN. Plumlee completed his first 10-day contract and now will finish his 13th NBA season in San Antonio.
Shams Charania: 7-footer Mo Bamba is signing a 10-day contract with the Utah Jazz, Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports and Greer Love tell ESPN. Bamba spent time earlier this season with the Raptors and has averaged 17 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks for the Jazz’s NBA G League affiliate.
Shams Charania: The New Orleans Pelicans are signing two-way G/F Bryce McGowens to a new three-year contract, Kyle McAlarney and Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tell ESPN. McGowens, a second-rounder in 2022, has averaged 7.9 points and 45.3% shooting on 3s for Pelicans in his fourth season.
Michael Scotto: The Boston Celtics are converting rookie two-way guard John Tonje to a standard 10-day NBA deal, George Roussakis and Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports told @hoopshype . Tonje, a former Wisconsin All-American, has been a standout with the Maine Celtics, Boston’s G League team.

Yossi Gozlan: Jon Tonje, a drafted rookie the Celtics traded for, will count $58,817 less on their cap sheet than a veteran 10-day. It’s a small amount of savings that will allow them to go into the playoffs with two veterans and a rookie (likely Max Shulga) while staying under the tax.
Yossi Gozlan: This is the first time I can recall in my 8 years following the salary cap that a team signed a rookie that was drafted to a 10-day contract. For the Celtics, this was done to help them narrowly duck the tax. I expect their final cap sheet to look something like this.
