Former Celtics player Tacko Fall signed with Chinese team Nanjing Monkey Kings for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
Tacko Fall will join the New Zealand Breakers for the remainder of the 2024-25 NBL season, sources told ESPN, after the team announced it had parted ways with American big-man Freddie Gillespie. Gillespie played his final game with the Breakers on Saturday against the Cairns Taipans, leaving the team with averages of 6.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, and a league-leading 1.8 blocks per game.
Tacko Fall will join the New Zealand Breakers for their three NBA preseason games in early October, sources told ESPN. The former NBA big-man - who stands at 7'6 - will be a guest player for the Breakers, suiting up for the NBL team for their preseason games against the Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Philadelphia 76ers.

With no great NBA job prospects this past season, Tacko trekked to China and averaged 13.8 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.3 blocks a game for the Xinjiang Flying Tigers. “It’s always a good experience for growth,” he said. “I think last year I took full advantage of it and I grew a lot, and that’s why I came back to try to showcase my growth this year.” Tacko smiled when it was noted that a selection of Celtic fans still bring up his name whenever the club has a roster opening. He and his family reside in Chicago now, “But,” he said, “I mean, Boston will always be my home, so I’m very grateful for that.”
Sean Paul: After today’s workout, Eugene German has committed to play Summer League with the Boston Celtics, he tells me. Averaged 24.5 points, five assists in the CBA. He played against numerous former NBA players like Jared Sullinger, Marshon Brooks, Jordan Crawford & Tacko Fall.

Wolves assistant coach Aurimas Jasilionis, who will work under head coach Rimas Kurtinaitis in the new club, revealed in an interview with BasketNews that the club is still considering making an offer for Fall. "To be honest, the idea for Tacko [Fall] is still alive. We're still searching, talking to agents, and Fall's candidacy remains among the options, we'll see how it goes," said Jasilionis.
Leonard Miller is currently working out in California, preparing for G League Elite Camp (May 13-15) or the NBA Draft Combine (May 16-22). Both events are in Chicago. If he wants to play into the mystique, he may just participate in measurements and interviews with select teams while there. Some of his measurements will help his draft stock. He has massive hands that, at 10.5 inches, are as wide as 7-foot-6 big man Tacko Fall’s. At 9-foot, Miller has the same standing reach that Anthony Davis did before he was selected at No. 1 overall in 2012.
Tacko Fall had an inkling during Tuesday’s practice that he could be in the starting lineup for Wednesday’s game against Boston. As the Cavaliers went through practice, he was in the first five of the group. As he practiced with that group, he pondered the possibility he could be starting. Then during Wednesday morning’s film session, the coaching staff told Fall he was starting at the five. “From there, I was like, ‘Wow, this really happened,’” Fall said. “You work really hard to get to this point. I mean, this is my third year, and after three years to finally get the opportunity to start an NBA game, that’s something that I’ve dreamed of for a while. And the opportunity came, and it happened. So it felt great.”
Chris Fedor: It’s Tacko Wednesday! #Cavs Tacko Fall will make his first career NBA start tonight against Boston, a source tells @clevelanddotcom. Dean Wade and Ricky Rubio, a source says, will also move into the starting group alongside Darius Garland and Lauri Markkanen.
