“When it comes to the last couple weeks for you, what went into the assembly of this roster?” David Adelman: “Yeah, I mean it was a lot of conversations with Ben and John and Josh. I think we were trying to find pieces that fit — not just names that people knew. We feel like all these guys do complement the group that’s been here, the group that’s accomplished so much over all these years in Denver. And I can tell you right now just from my messaging with Aaron Gordon, Jamal Murray, Nikola Jokic — those guys are excited. And that brings something new for us. They feel like a new gym is going to be there. And for those guys who have been around for so long, sometimes you need that. You need a little bit of change, and this change is a good change.”
On whether the Nuggets have a minutes benchmark they want to keep Nikola Jokic under after he was fourth in minutes per game last season: “We know that one of the most important things we have to do next season is take care of him, and make sure that he is the best version of himself if we’re lucky enough to get to that playoff spot. So yeah, it’s a concern. But it needs to be talked about. It needs to be done the right way. That’s what we’re gonna do.”

Nikola Jokic is expected to join Serbia in the upcoming 2025 EuroBasket. According to Meridian, Jokic is close to making the decision and officially accept the invitation of Serbia head coach Svetislav Pesic to become a member of the national team for a second straight summer.
Jokic is eligible to sign a three-year, $200 million extension up until Oct. 20, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks. The first year of the extension would have replaced his player option. By waiting until the 2026 offseason to work on an extension, the Nuggets star is able to add a fourth year at an additional $77 million, according to Marks.

Nikola Jokic has informed the Nuggets he will not sign a contract extension this offseason, team sources told The Denver Post, as the three-time MVP intends to wait until next summer to engage in contract talks.
Jokic has a minimum of two years remaining on his current supermax contract, as well as a player option for the 2027-28 season. Tuesday was the first day he was eligible for an extension that would add up to three years and $212 million to that deal. However, he can earn an additional $80 million, approximately, by pushing off an extension until the 2026 offseason. The Nuggets presented both options to Jokic in conversations with him and his representation. Jokic’s camp is electing to wait — a decision that Nuggets leadership was anticipating because of the money on the table, team sources said.
Jim Eichenhofer: #Pelicans two-way guard Trey Alexander was a Nugget in '24-25. On Derik Queen's "Baby Jokic" nickname, he said: "Obviously he’s a big. Probably not the most athletic, but he’s very skilled. Can beat you in many ways, whether it's knocking down the 3, or he can kill you down low."
Nikola Jokic won’t be a free agent until 2027 at the earliest, but as of Tuesday, the Denver Nuggets’ franchise cornerstone is eligible to sign another contract extension. Jokic, 29, can ink a three-year, $206 million maximum extension that would tack onto his existing supermax deal, which runs through the 2026-27 season and includes a player option for 2027-28. However, it remains unclear if the three-time MVP will sign now — or wait for a potentially more lucrative payday next summer.
