“I’m very disappointed, but due to a calf injury, I unfortunately won't be able to play for Poland at this year's EuroBasket. I've been working hard for this over the past few months, and the time I've been training and playing with the national team has been incredible. This is a special group, and I was really looking forward to being a part of it. Fortunately, doctors predict I'll be fully recovered by the start of training camp for the upcoming NBA season. I want to thank my teammates, coaches, and the entire staff, and especially the fans in Poland, for their support. I appreciate it very much, and please know that even though I won't be able to be with you, I will support Poland wholeheartedly, " says Jeremy Sochan.
Jeremy Sochan will not play in the upcoming EuroBasket 2025 due to a calf injury, the Polish Basketball Federation announced on Sunday. Without 22-year-old Sochan, Poland is losing a key member of its roster, even if qualifying for the knockout stage is still in the cards. Poland will host Group D action in Katowice, where they will face France, Slovenia, Israel, Belgium, and Iceland with four tickets to the Round of 16 on the line. Earlier this week, Sochan reported calf discomfort following a training session, and while his injury will not affect his upcoming NBA season with the Spurs, it requires rest and rehabilitation. “We are very sorry that Jeremy’s summer with the national team ends so soon,” said National Team Director Lukasz Koszarek. “He is a valued member of our squad and has a great connection with the team.”

San Antonio Spurs' Jeremy Sochan joined the "HoopsFix" show to talk about his time in the NBA, the media, his NBA goals, and more. It was a great interview, where he shared a funny moment he had with former Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich and getting tossed from practice. "I think in one practice, he saw me and he thought I could give more effort. For him, it's a way to show and teach you a lesson. He just told me to get out," Sochan said.

What is something the public does not yet grasp about Victor Wembanyama? Jeremy Sochan: For me, day in and day out, he is doing all these little things like playing chess and working on his mental health. He is doing yoga. That all plays a part in who he is and what he can do on the court. I think a lot of people just think about his talent. Vic can do extraordinary things. But it’s all the other things that he does that really open everything up on the court. That may happen behind closed doors, but I think that’s really important. He’s really consistent about it. He wants to be the greatest.
What was your biggest takeaway from playing for Gregg Popovich? Jeremy Sochan: My biggest takeaway is definitely that he is the greatest. He’s respected by everyone. For me, I saw him as a coach but also as a father figure. He gave such an education on justice and different things going on in the world, I think he made me and everyone else realize that it’s bigger than basketball. There are more important things in life that also need attention. At the end of day, we are all humans. We’re not always going to be perfect. It’s all about learning and experiencing the ups and downs and becoming a better person and a better basketball player.
How do you think your game translates to the postseason intensity? Jeremy Sochan: I think my game will thrive in those moments. When you look at the playoffs right now, the game is very physical. You can see a lot of players that, in the regular-season, they impact the game. But the utility guys and the energy guys really make the team that wins really stand up.
Tom Orsborn: Jeremy Sochan on Chris Paul playing in all 82 games: "He could be in flipping, I don't know, Hawaii, doing nothing. And he's here in San Antonio, Texas, busting his ass 82 fucking games, just doing his thing. And I think that's what I've noticed, just the passion that he has."

Castle’s competition for this season’s honor seems to be Atlanta Hawks forward Zaccharie Risacher. The No. 1 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, selected three spots ahead of Castle, also has come to life of late. He has five games of 20 or more points in Atlanta’s last 20 games, including a 36-point gem March 30 against the Milwaukee Bucks. He nabbed his first Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month honor on Monday. Naturally, the Spurs believe Castle deserves to be the team’s second consecutive Rookie of the Year. “Has it even been a question?” Sochan said of Castle’s ascendancy in the race for the award. “There’s no one out there on the ‘ladder,’ or even in his class that should get it, so I think it’s his for sure.”
