Marc Stein: Crvena Zvezda in Serbia has emerged as the strong favorite to sign Jared Butler … after Butler scored 35 points in a preseason game earlier this month for Phoenix against the Lakers.

Marc Stein: There is strong EuroLeague interest in Spencer Dinwiddie but sources tell the @TheSteinLine that Anadolu Efes is not among the teams pursuing the veteran guard. Dinwiddie is a free agent after going to training camp with Charlotte. He and Jared Butler both have European suitors.

Jalen Green didn't play in the preseason opener on Friday, Oct. 3, against the Los Angeles Lakers in Palm Desert, but got in a pregame workout of dribbling, shooting and movement. The former Houston Rockets guard played in all 82 regular-season games the past two seasons. The Suns landed Green in the Kevin Durant trade before the 2025 draft. “I think he’s super close (to returning),” Suns guard Jared Butler said. The Suns leave Phoenix for what they say will be a 17-hour, 7,500-mile flight to China for a weeklong stay that ends with two games in three days — Oct. 10 and Oct. 12 — versus the Nets. “Get out of the states," Suns star Devin Booker said Oct. 3. “Long flight together, so we're going to get some good team bonding. Some quality time. Take this show on the road.”

Jared Butler‘s new one-year, minimum-salary contract with the Suns is a non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 deal, but doesn’t include Exhibit 10 language, Hoops Rumors has learned. That suggests Butler likely won’t be playing for Phoenix’s G League team if he doesn’t earn a spot on the regular season roster.

Shams Charania: Free agent guard Jared Butler has agreed to a one-year deal with the Phoenix Suns, Mark Bartelstein and Kieran Piller of @PrioritySports tell ESPN. The 2021 second-rounder averaged 9 points in 17 minutes per game over 60 contests for the 76ers and Wizards last season.

Adam Aaronson: Jared Butler says he would definitely like to be back with the Sixers next year. Jokes his priority for the summer is to “work on dunking,” before saying he’s probably going to focus mostly on his body.

Adam Aaronson: Lonnie Walker IV's two-year contract with the Sixers has a second-year team option, source tells @thephillyvoice. Team could bring Walker back in 2025-26 by picking it up or decline the option with a chance to sign a longer-term deal. Same structure as Justin Edwards/Jared Butler

The Sixers are converting two-way point guard Jared Butler to a two-year standard contract, according to a report from Shams Charania of ESPN. The contract covers the remainder of this season and contains a team option for 2025-26, a team source told PhillyVoice. This structure enables the Sixers to either pick up Butler’s option for next season or decline the option in hopes of securing him on a longer-term deal.

Noah Levick: Sixers announced that they signed Jared Butler to a standard NBA contract and released Chuma Okeke from his 10-day deal.

Shams Charania: The Philadelphia 76ers are converting two-way guard Jared Butler to a standard two-year NBA contract, Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports told ESPN. Butler has averaged 10 points, 4.7 assists and 17.1 minutes over 3 games since joining the 76ers via trade last week.

Adam Aaronson: The Sixers will waive Pete Nance to make room for Jared Butler, source says.
