Olgun Uluc: The Australian Boomers are through to the final of the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup, thanks to a 92-48 win over Iran overnight. Jack McVeigh led the Boomers with 17 points, while Will ‘Davo’ Hickey had 14-6-6. Australia faces China in the final. Tip-off is 2am (AEST) on Monday, Aug. 18.
The Kenfrost Homes Cairns Taipans announce forward Jack McVeigh as their first new signing for the upcoming 2025-26 season. The Australian Boomer has selected Cairns in his anticipated return to the NBL after spending the last 12 months in the NBA with Houston. The 203cm forward signs a two-year contract (second year mutual option) subject to NBL approval.
Olgun Uluc: The JackJumpers relinquish their right of first refusal with Jack McVeigh (which they had through the 2026-27 season). This allows McVeigh to sign with another NBL team, if he wishes. The two teams pursuing him the strongest, sources told ESPN; Cairns Taipans and Illawarra Hawks. It’s worth noting that McVeigh has ambitions to return to the NBA, which he’s still actively pursuing. He’s also still fielding - and, I’m told, legitimately considering - offers from high-level European teams.
Danielle Lerner: I’m told that the Rockets have extended two-way qualifying offers to N’Faly Dante and David Roddy, who are now restricted free agents. No word on Jack McVeigh yet – his spot is likely up for grabs.
RGV Vipers: The Rockets have transferred N’Faly Dante and Jack McVeigh to their NBA G League affiliate, Rio Grande Valley.

McVeigh -- a 6'8 forward -- is coming off the best season of his professional career, emerging as a star for the Tasmania JackJumpers, leading the team to the 2024 NBL Championship, and walking away as the Championship Series MVP.
