Gina Mizell: Per the Sixers’ afternoon injury report, Jabari Walker remains OUT for tonight’s game against Portland. Adem Bona and Andre Drummond are both listed as questionable with back issues. Bona played yesterday, and his designation is back injury management on the second game of a back to back.

Derek Bodner: Jabari Walker, asked about how he, normally relatively mild mannered, can get emotive after big rebounds: "I'm quiet around you guys, I keep it professional. But the people that really know me, I'm actually kind of crazy. I talk a lot. Something's really wrong with me."

Adam Aaronson: Nick Nurse expressed excitement for Jabari Walker’s standard contract and says during the time he’s been out his absence has been felt. Says Walker and Dominick Barlow “earned and deserved” their deals. Possibility he goes to one of them at center, but still likes Drummond/Bona.

Keith Smith: As we reset coming out of the All-Star break, here are the reported agreements we are waiting on to go official: 🏀Mike Conley - MIN 🏀Haywood Highsmith - PHX 🏀Tyrese Martin - PHI - Two-Way 🏀Cameron Payne - PHI 🏀Jabari Walker - PHI 🏀Nate Williams Jr. - GSW - Two-Way

Michael Scotto: Update: 76ers will sign Jabari Walker to a 2-year, $3.35 million deal, which includes $1 million guaranteed, sources say. Walker earned a rotation role with Philadelphia and ran out of eligible games on his two-way deal before the All-Star Break. ESPN first reported an agreement.

Shams Charania: The Philadelphia 76ers intend to sign forward Jabari Walker to a new two-year contract, sources tell ESPN. 76ers and Klutch Sports' Rich Paul and Anthony Fields negotiated the new deal for Walker, who earned a rotation role after maxing out the games allowed on his two-way deal.

Shams Charania: The 76ers are planning to sign Walker to the new two-year deal and veteran guard Cam Payne for the rest of the season in the coming days. Payne spent part of the 2023-24 season with the 76ers.

Yossi Gozlan: This assumes Jabari Walker and Cameron Payne sign their deals on Thursday when the Sixers play next. They’ll have enough room for an additional signing at the end of the season in case they need to make one.

Adam Aaronson: No team option for 2026-27 on the Cam Payne deal. Straight one-year deal. They should have enough breathing room below the luxury tax to not have to wait to sign their 15th standard contract, whether that ends up being a Jabari Walker deal or another external addition.

The Philadelphia 76ers have a decision to make with their roster. Because of an obscure rule in the NBA's collective bargaining agreement, two-way players Dominick Barlow and Jabari Walker are currently not allowed to play in another game this season despite each having been on the active list for 50 or fewer games, the maximum allowed.

The rule will be enforced starting Monday at Charlotte. The "Under-Fifteen Game" rule states that for teams carrying fewer than 15 players on standard contracts, two-way players can be active for a total of only 90 games. Barlow, Walker and recently waived Hunter Saliss have played a combined 90 games for the 76ers this season. The 76ers can get around this rule by using their open roster spot to convert Barlow or Walker to a standard contract or by signing a player to a 10-day contract to get their roster to 15.

When Jabari Walker watches from the sideline, he can't help but feel like a fan. It's a charming, humanizing effect. One that levels Walker, a 99th-percentile athlete, with just about every other person in the building. "I just feel like I'm witnessing history. I see his approach every day," Walker says with a smile after a Sunday practice in early December. He wouldn't expect the face of the Sixers to be as "cool and encouraging" as he is.

Tyrese Maxey is regularly making shots at the rim that would make the most experienced HORSE players blush in their driveways. He's not getting caught up in his own paint artistry. For a guy who can hang in the air to do the impossible, Maxey stays remarkably grounded. "Sometimes you don't even feel like the moment is as important as it is, just because of how free he makes you feel," Walker says in admiration. "I feel like if it was a tied game, he would trust me to shoot the last shot. That's just how he is as a person. So, cool guy. "Big fan of Tyrese, just his mentality, how he is as a person."
