It is not seen as a certainty, according to one source briefed on the process, that the Kings will try again in the offseason to trade Domantas Sabonis after fielding in-season trade offers for the former All-Star big man. There are scenarios, I'm told, that would steer Sacramento toward keeping Sabonis — who has two seasons left on his contract after this one — that depend on how the Kings fare in May's draft lottery and whom they are able to select in a draft headlined by Darryn Peterson, AJ Dybantsa and Cameron Boozer.

Dallas, by contrast, was unable to generate the first-round pick it was seeking in trade talks for Daniel Gafford. Neither, sources say, could Sacramento with Domantas Sabonis.

Yossi Gozlan: Kings now down to 12 active players including two-ways. They have an open standard & two-way roster spot to fill for help. They'll also qualify for a hardship extension soon with Zach LaVine, Domantas Sabonis, & De'Andre Hunter out for the year + Dylan Cardwell out for a while.

Shams Charania: Sacramento Kings star Domantas Sabonis underwent season-ending surgery on Wednesday morning to repair the torn meniscus in his left knee, sources tell ESPN. Sabonis rehabbed the meniscus tear during the season and tried to play through the injury before having surgery now.

Mike Vorkunov: Wasserman has a number of major clients in the NBA (Evan Mobley, Klay Thompson, Sabonis) and WNBA (Paige Bueckers, Breanna Stewart, Brittney Griner) and MLB (Matt Olson, Giancarlo Stanton, Zack Wheeler, Yoshinobu Yamamoto)

James Ham: Doug McDermott has been upgraded to available on the NBA's injury list this morning. Zach LaVine (pinky finger), Malik Monk (illness), Domantas Sabonis (back), De'Andre Hunter (eye) and Keegan Murray (knee) are all out.

Jake Fischer: There will be no Domantas Sabonis trade, sources say. He’s sticking in Sacramento.

Oh No He Didn't: Dylan Cardwell: "I'm not getting paid to be Domas, I'm getting paid to be Dylan Cardwell"

All signs point to Sacramento big man Domantas Sabonis remaining in Sacramento past tomorrow’s deadline. Per team sources, the Kings view the prospect of sending him to the Toronto Raptors as flat-lined, so to speak.

Washington showed real interest in recent days, but the pick value coming the Kings' way wasn't sufficient in their eyes. As you surely noticed, they just found their big man in Anthony Davis in the deal with Dallas. Charlotte also showed interest in Sabonis some time ago, but not at the deadline. Alas, Sabonis is on track to stay put.

Jake Fischer: The Wizards had been calling around trying to flip Khris Middleton's salary for big men, including Domantas Sabonis. And they are doing so in a major acquisition to land Anthony Davis, league sources confirm. Washington sees Alex Sarr as a power forward.
The Stein Line has learned that the Wizards have called Sacramento about the prospect of building an offer for Sabonis around Khris Middleton's $33 million expiring salary, but I'm told that there has yet to be a trade framework presented to the Kings that would compel them to part with Sabonis … yet. The Kings are looking for some type of first-round draft capital in a Sabonis deal. Can that still materialize before Thursday's 3 PM ET trade buzzer? TBD.
