Miami also was expected to view a group workout for Minnesota center Daniel Oturu and Arizona point guard Nico Mannion, both projected to possibly go in the 20s or 30s. And Miami has done a Zoom session with College of Charleston point guard Grant Riller, another strong shooter projected to go in the late 20s or 30s. (Miami doesn’t have a second-round pick.) Riller averaged 21.9 points and shot 36.2 percent on three-pointers as a senior last season.

NBA prospect Grant Riller from the College of Charleston recently joined Raquel Rodriguez on Babcock Hoops Q&A Sessions. They discussed him being a late bloomer, a season-ending injury prior to his freshman season, why he thinks an NBA general manager should select him, and more. Raquel Rodriguez: Hi, Grant. Thank you for joining me today. I'd like to get right into it and talk about your high school days. From what I understand, you were not really heavily recruited by Division-1 schools, and now you're an NBA prospect. Do you think that you flew under a lot of the coach’s radars?

Former Cougar guard Anthony Johnson is considered the leading candidate for the job. Johnson, who interviewed for the position in 2012 before Wojcik was hired, has been contacted by athletic director Joe Hull and members of the search committee. In the next few days, the committee is expected to interview Johnson, who was the first player from the College of Charleston to be selected in the NBA draft when Sacramento picked the former Stall High star in the second round in 1997.

Hall of Famer Rick Barry’s imprint on the game of …

Hall of Famer Rick Barry’s imprint on the game of basketball continues to resurface. Barry was most notably known for his unorthodox style of shooting free throws by flipping them underhanded (and shooting at a highly-accurate rate mind you). With his four oldest sons well-established in their careers, Barry’s youngest son, Canyon, is a 6-6 guard who spent last season redshirting at College of Charleston. Now, his son’s doing things like his daddy…shooting underhanded.

For The Win

The Los Angeles Lakers waived second-year guard Andrew Goudelock on Saturday, trimming their roster to 15 players. The former second-round pick from the College of Charleston became something of a fan favorite last season, earning the nickname "Mini Mamba" from teammate Kobe Bryant for his ability to come off the bench and score quickly and in bunches. He averaged 4.4 points in 10.5 minutes a game in 40 games as a rookie.
