Bobby Marks on Celtics: I am expecting more moves to happen. Your backcourt of Anfernee Simons and Derrick White will probably look different when we get to training camp. Certainly ,we'll keep an eye on what happens with Kristaps Porzingis. I think the goal is certainly to get under the second apron. (…) We'll keep an eye on Sam Hauser. We'll certainly keep an eye on maybe Derrick White. I think you have to come with the monster trade package. This basically the bridge year that Boston was going to do… This certainly is the bridge year. Right now you're probably best positioned to, and I don't want to say a fire sale, but you're basically going to probably be positioning yourself for potentially probably a lottery pick here, as far as where this roster is going and you wait till Jayson Tatum gets back and you figure out what you're going to do with your roster.

They’d lose in overtime of Game 6 of the 2014 West Finals, a series that might’ve been different had Serge Ibaka not strained his calf in the previous round. The following training camp, Kevin Durant (the reigning MVP) fractured his foot at the peak of his powers. Complications forced him to shut it down for the 2015 season. They climbed the mountain again in 2016, winning 55 games, eliminating the 67-win Spurs in the second round and pushing the 73-win Golden State Warriors to the brink. But then Klay Thompson struck them with a bolt of Game 6 lightning — the most infamous loss in the Durant era — and a blown 3-1 series lead became the bitter end to the contention era. Durant left for the Warriors a month later. That’s the long path and more tortured side of their history that, for some Thunder fans, followers and even employees, can be exorcised on Thursday night with one more win. But there are still 48 minutes before that can become reality.
“In '19, I was probably less than 200 pounds by the time I got to the Finals,” Siakam told Yahoo Sports Sunday afternoon before Pacers practice. “I mean I was this skinny. All the weight through the playoffs, it was so much.” Listed at 230 pounds now, he was also listed as that going into training camp when he was a third-year forward with the Toronto Raptors, in the year he won Most Improved Player and had a breakout NBA Finals series against the Golden State Warriors. But the fact he lost so much weight during the long run through the playoffs speaks to how much more prepared players have to be in order to stay upright and effective, especially when their best is required.
According to French site BasketEurope, T.J. Shorts is set to leave Paris Basketball and make the jump to the NBA. The 27-year-old point guard is expected to join the Memphis Grizzlies, skipping Summer League or training camp. Shorts would reunite with Tuomas Iisalo, now on the Grizzlies’ coaching staff, after two successful years in Paris. Despite receiving lucrative EuroLeague offers, Shorts appears determined to fulfill his NBA dream.
Daryl Morey: Well, it did fail right away. I would say the first thing is—even though many were on board with the plan—I don’t really accept that. My job is to win, regardless of that. So, um, you know, we’re spending a lot of time thinking: What could we have done better? I think I spoke about it after the season. I did get too focused on: what are the pieces that are going to help us win a playoff series? And even how we spoke in training camp—about getting our key players to the playoffs—it set the wrong tone. And that will be something I correct, and Coach Nurse corrects. But, a long lead into your answer—which is: it never started. You know, Joel was hurt right away. Never really played to the level we know he can play. Then it was: we had a Paul injury, a Maxey injury—really, the whole... Rod Drummond was—I mean, like—it was really like— And then I did—and people made fun of it, correctly. I mean, I do. I’m online. I read.
