A Lakeland rapper was killed and a woman critically injured early Saturday morning in a shooting outside Jade Fox Lounge. Raheem Bacon, better known as rap and hip-hop artist "350heem," was killed in a shooting outside the lounge in the Highlands Plaza shopping center at Lakeland Highlands Road and Edgewood Drive South. Lakeland police did not identify Bacon, but several people on social media, including family members, confirmed it. A 48-year-old woman was shot and critically injured, according to police. The lounge was hosting an upscale, celebrity party Friday night featuring an appearance of Bacon's older brother, former NBA basketball player Dwayne Bacon, who has played for the Charlotte Hornets and Orlando Magic.
Bacon went live on his Instagram account and repeated Panathinaikos name's abbreviation several times. Afterward, Greek TV ertsports.gr got in touch with the 27-year-old American regarding his possible move to PAO. "Greece is excellent, I want to come to Panathinaikos," Bacon told the television when asked about the potential transfer to Greece.
Fred Katz: The Knicks are waiving Dwayne Bacon, league sources tell @TheAthletic. Bacon was on a non-guaranteed contract. Knicks still have 14 guaranteed guys on the roster, one below the max.
When the Knicks signed Orlando swingman Dwayne Bacon after he was waived earlier this month, it figured he’d be part of the 15-man roster when the season kicked off Oct. 20 versus Boston. But that seems less certain, considering the way Bacon’s contract reads. According to an NBA source, Bacon signed a one-year non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 deal after being a starter for the Magic last season, playing in all 72 games.
If Bacon, who turns 26 on Monday, is cut, he will get a $50,000 guarantee if he plays with the Westchester Knicks of the G-League. There’s a chance the final roster spot will become a battle between Bacon and Argentine combo guard Luca Vildoza, who has a four-year, $13.6 million non-guaranteed deal. Vildoza, 25, already got paid for the first season despite signing in May. Bacon is a Creative Artists Agency client — team president Leon Rose’s former firm. But multiple sources contend the Knicks are taking a flier on Bacon because of Tom Thibodeau’s close friend, Steve Clifford, the former Charlotte and Orlando coach who now is a Nets consultant.

Gary Washburn: #Celtics take care of business against shorthanded #Magic, win 132-96, tie MIA for sixth. Walker 32, Tatum 27, Fournier 18, Pritchard 14; Bacon 20, Wagner 20.
There are clear stakes in the near term for how Bacon performs. His rookie contract ends after this season and there’s an option to make him a $2 million qualifying offer to restrict his free-agency. General manager Mitch Kupchak told the Observer in September his priority in the summer of 2020 will be re-signing young talent and mentioned Bacon specifically as an example.
It’s common these days for player-personnel scouts from other teams to ask about Bacon as a future free agent. But that matters only to the extent he frees himself from his funk. “I think I have the perfect mindset to play 15 years in the NBA, because I can accept every obstacle and I’m always going to be ready. I don’t come with ego,” Bacon said. “I’m the same guy every day: I smile like I just scored 30 points. When you have an ego in this sport, you won’t get far. If I came in here all mad, thinking ‘Oh, you guys are playing and I’m not,’ that’s just selfish of me. “I know this is going to come around.”
Rick Bonnell: The @Charlotte Hornets recalled @Caleb Martin from @greensboroswarm after Swarm played this morning. Logical move with Batum and probably Bacon out tonight.
Charlotte Hornets General Manager Mitch Kupchak announced today that the team has assigned forward Dwayne Bacon to the Greensboro Swarm, the team’s NBA G League affiliate. In 25 appearances with the Hornets, Bacon has averaged 4.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in 10.6 minutes per game. This marks Bacon’s 12th assignment to the Swarm this season. In 14 appearances with Greensboro, he is averaging 20.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 31.7 minutes per game. In Bacon’s most recent appearance with Greensboro on Feb. 24 against Wisconsin, he totaled 29 points and four rebounds in 32 minutes of play.

With first-round pick Miles Bridges added to a growing arsenal of Hornets wings that already includes Lamb, Nicolas Batum, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Malik Monk, Bacon will have plenty of competition for minutes in the team’s rotation. Battling for spots is not a bad thing, especially if it brings out the best for those involved. “Every guy wants to play, but it’s getting something out of each other and competing at the hardest level each and every day,” Bacon stated. “Coach is going to make the decision to put the best guy out there in any situation and we just go from there. There’s not too much worrying about, ‘Oh, this guy’s going to play over this guy.’ All of us are competing and we want to win. Once we win, everybody gets a great accomplishment out of that.”
Charlotte Hornets General Manager Rich Cho announced today that the team has recalled Dwayne Bacon and Julyan Stone from the Greensboro Swarm, the team’s NBA G League affiliate. Bacon (6-7, 221, Florida State) is in his rookie year with Charlotte after the Hornets acquired his draft rights along with cash considerations from New Orleans in exchange for the draft rights to Frank Jackson during the 2017 NBA Draft.
Charlotte Hornets General Manager Rich Cho announced today that the team has recalled rookie Dwayne Bacon from the Greensboro Swarm, the team’s NBA G League affiliate. Bacon joins teammates Kemba Walker, Frank Kaminsky, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Cody Zeller on the Jordan Brand roster. Perhaps Monk could be pulled over, but he's being presented as a Nike Basketball athlete at the moment.
