NBA Stat: Most career games played without a playoff appearance among active players: Miles Bridges - 501 Lauri Markkanen - 492 Collin Sexton - 475 Tre Jones - 362 Lonzo Ball - 322 (via Underdog) #NBA

The look on the veteran Charlotte Hornets forward is no different than some 36 hours before, when he was a key force in helping lift his team past Miami. He’s almost possessed by the task at hand, exuding laser-like vision on what’s staring directly at the Hornets. “Yeah, it’s desperation,” Bridges said Thursday, “desperation at this point. Win or go home. So, you’ve got to play with that type of sense of urgency and that type of energy and focus. I’ve been waiting for my whole for this.”

With 501 career regular-season games played, Bridges is alone at the top of a list he’s hoping to leapfrog off: He’s played in the most games without making it to the actual postseason, a trend that can finally be reversed if the Hornets upend the Orlando Magic at Kia Center on Friday night in an NBA play-in tournament game, where the victor earns the Eastern Conference’s No. 8 seed. “You try not to think about it too much, but at the same time, like I said, I want to be focused,” Bridges said. “I want to be locked in and give 100 percent. I don’t want to leave nothing on the table.”

Rod Boone: Final: #Hornets 127, Heat 126 (OT) LaMelo 30 pts, 10 asts, 5 rebs Miles Bridges 28 pts, 9 rebs Coby White 19 pts, 5 rebs, 3 asts Up next: at Philadelphia/Orlando loser at 7:30 p.m. Friday

Ball and Knueppel have formed a Hornets 3-point shooting duo of the future that has a new-age Splash Brothers feel to it. Charlotte has been perhaps the best story of the NBA season and authored the most surprising turnaround with a potent starting five that includes the emerging Brandon Miller, Miles Bridges and Moussa Diabate. The Hornets won 44 games after totaling just 19 wins a season ago. Only the Spurs have had a bigger turnaround this season. "Nobody's thinking that playing Charlotte is going to be an easy walkover game," Knueppel told ESPN. "Which it has been the last couple years."

Will Eudy: Just left from Hornets shootaround. Hornets are retiring Dell Curry’s jersey tonight, and I asked Miles Bridges about being part of an organization that honors their legends. “I love being here, and I see why guys like being here in Charlotte … For them to honor the legends like that, it’s a good thing, and this man gone be next (points at Kemba Walker).”

Victor Wembanyama had 32 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists and three blocks in his return from a one-game absence, leading the San Antonio Spurs to a 115-102 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday. Miles Bridges had 22 points and Kon Knueppel added 20 for Charlotte, which had won two straight and eight of 10.

Will Eudy: I was just at Hornets shootaround and asked Miles Bridges about playing in front of a loud, sold-out crowd every night: “I’m not used to this. It’s usually just a couple games like Warriors, Lakers, Knicks. But now, guys are coming to games against Portland. Portland’s a good team … But people don’t show up to those types of games. So I’m happy for the fans that they get to experience this.”

Q: I want to get your quick thoughts on the Hornets, because they’re surprisingly the hottest team in the NBA right now. They’re running on all cylinders. Thoughts on them? Could you see them making the playoffs at this point? Muggsy Bogues: Absolutely. The guys have been playing well. Health is the key, if the guys are healthy with LaMelo, Miles, Miller, Kon and Diabate all on the same floor at the same time. A lot of success has been having those guys. Unfortunately, we have the suspension, but I still think they bounce back. They just got a big win against Atlanta. I think the guys are really looking forward to the last stretch of the season.

Bobby Marks: Suspension amounts: Isaiah Stewart: $724,138 Miles Bridges: $689,655 Jalen Duren: $89,423 Moussa Diabate: $62,641
