Yaxel Lendeborg, the No. 1-ranked player in the transfer portal, has committed to Michigan, sources confirmed to 247Sports. The former UAB forward will also go through the NBA draft process with the intention of finding a guaranteed contract, Jonathan Givony of ESPN reports. Lendeborg played two seasons at UAB and has two seasons of college eligibility remaining.

A professional pathway was never taken for granted. Even after some standout seasons at UAB, Jemison knew there was still a mountain of work ahead to make it in the modern game. “You pray about things and want to accomplish goals, but it wasn’t until last year with the chance to play Summer League. That is when I knew I had a chance of being a pro. To be honest, even in my collegiate days it was like I’m a good player, but did not quite have the skill set or body movements to be an NBA-level pro.”

New Arizona Wildcats assistant Jason Terry is entering his first season as a college basketball coach, but it turns out he actually tried entering the industry in 2016. In March of that year, the Stanford Cardinal hired Jerod Haase away from UAB and Terry, 39 at the time, was willing to walk away from his NBA career to be the Blazers’ new head coach. He interviewed for the position (and well, according to him) but was turned down in favor of Haase’s top assistant Robert Ehsan. Terry returned to the NBA for two more seasons, both with the Milwaukee Bucks, more determined than ever to coach one day.
