Jeff Teague on Bucks signing Thanasis Antetokounmpo: I ain't going to never say he can't hoop though. Like, he deserves it, I mean, he could play in the NBA. Obviously, you see his highlights, but you just wouldn't think… that. Q. Giannis Antetokoumpo owns the Bucks. Jeff Teague: For sure, part-owner.
Asked if the game played a role in the signing, Thanasis admitted that it did: “For sure. They were here after the first game against Italy, and they were excited because I was playing defense. I was doing my job, that’s my role. The important thing is that everyone who returns (after such an injury) with a team, or in a tournament like this, has to prove themselves again. That’s basketball. Whatever you have done so far counts; it’s your resume, but you have to prove it every day. That’s professional sports”.

Shams Charania: Thanasis Antetokounmpo is signing a guaranteed one-year, $2.9 million deal to return to the Milwaukee Bucks, sources tell ESPN. Antetokounmpo played for Bucks from 2019-24. This also means after a summer of exploring options, Giannis is staying in Milwaukee to start the season.
“I missed this a lot. I am grateful. This is why I give it my all. You won’t be playing forever, and I don’t know another way. This is the way I play,” Thanasis Antetokounmpo commented on bringing his energy to the senior national team of Greece.

The final roster of the Greek national team is the following: Kostas Sloukas, Dimitris Katsivelis, Vassilis Toliopoulos, Tyler Dorsey, Giannoulis Larentzakis, Kostas Papanikolaou, Panagiotis Kalaitzakis, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Kostas Antetokounmpo, Alexandros Samodurov, and last but not least, Dinos Mitoglou.
Greece will face France on Sunday (24/8), and only one spot is left for grabs in the final roster. As it was officially announced, Nikos Chougaz and Nasos Bazinas are cut, with 13 players remaining available for the last test before the Eurobasket. Those are Kostas Sloukas, Dimitris Katsivelis, Vassilis Toliopoulos, Tyler Dorsey, Giannoulis Larentzakis, Kostas Papanikolaou, Panagiotis Kalaitzakis, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Kostas Antetokounmpo, Alexandros Samodurov, Dinos Mitoglou, and Vangelis Zougris. It all points to a “duel” between Thanasis Antetokounmpo and big man Vangelis Zougris, who will play for Louisville next season, for the 12th spot in the roster, while Alexandros Samodurov, who was hurt in the game against Italy but avoided injury, is expected to be part of the team due to his performance in the prep games.
Giannis was credited as 'Neighbour's Son,' appearing under the spelling 'Giannis Adeto Kunbo' on IMDb, while Veronica was also listed for her role. His involvement in the film amounted to just two lines: 'Quiet, please, it's late' and 'She is dead, gone.' For the Antetokounmpos, the job provided a small source of income during a period when Giannis and his brother Thanasis were also selling items on the streets of Athens to support their family. The film itself, Dead Europe, was dark, confronting and challenging, described by reviewers as both disturbing and intelligent.
Greece tippoed off its preparation games ahead of the 2025 EuroBasket by beating Belgium 74 – 60 in Athens. The winning side dominated the final quarter 22-11 to get the victory. Dinos Mitoglou stood out from Greece with 18 points in 17:24.
Greece superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo was out while his older brother Thanasis Antetokounmpo played his first game after 461 games, scoring six points in 12:34.

Jim Owczarski: Harris Stavrou at Sport 24 in Greece said the Greek national team announced Thanasis Antetokounmpo will participate in their training camp ahead of EuroBasket. He tore an Achilles working out after the 2024 playoffs and missed all of last season.
Jeff Stotts: If Haliburton did indeed tear his Achilles, that would be the 8th Achilles tear of the season. The previous high was 5 (14-15). The total doesn't include Thanasis Antetokounmpo who tore his in the offseason or prospect Jalon Moore who was injured in a recent pre-draft workout.
