Shams Charania: The New York Knicks plan to decline Pacome Dadiet's fourth-year option worth $5.37 million, sources tell ESPN. This creates salary space on the Knicks books for next season and will make Dadiet an unrestricted free agent in June, where both sides could still discuss a reunion.

Bobby Marks: With 9 players under contract in 2027-28, New York is $14.7m below the second apron. The room includes the options of Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart and Tyler Kolek. Dadiet is free to sign with NY as a FA but for no more than $5.37M (the declined team option).

The Knicks would need to make a trade by Monday afternoon if they want to keep Bruce Brown. I think they will explore all avenues to make that happen. It's logical to assume that the Knicks will move third-year wing Pacome Dadiet. But I believe New York will explore other deals — including trades involving third-year guard Tyler Kolek — this weekend and Monday. The Knicks will be asking teams to take on a player without sending back salary. To get a deal done, New York may need to attach its own second-round picks (New York will have at least 11 second-round picks in the next seven drafts). Something worth noting here: multiple teams (Charlotte Hornets, Los Angeles Lakers and others) are trying to attach second-round picks to work through a roster crunch. So the Knicks have competition in that regard. But given their plethora of second-rounders, they have the draft capital to get a deal done.

Tyler Nickel dropped six treys on 10 attempts Friday against the Nets, the lone positive in a blowout defeat that featured ugly performances from summer league vets Mohamed Diawara, Pacôme Dadiet and Dillon Jones. On Saturday, Nickel again was the Knicks’ leading scorer with 16 points on 6-for-14 shooting in 30 minutes in the Knicks’ 70-49 loss to the Spurs. “I definitely feel like I have some comparisons in the league. I feel like I’m a mix of some different guys: my size, my strength, my shooting ability,” Nickel said. “I feel really comfortable shooting off the move, so like [Detroit’s] Duncan Robinson, [Cleveland’s] Max Strus, [Boston’s] Sam Hauser. But then I have my own type of way of being. So it’s kind of a mix of a lot of people but also myself.”

Most likely to be traded: Guerschon Yabusele, Pacome Dadiet, Jordan Clarkson and Tyler Kolek. New York has been on the hunt for a proven ballhandler for its second unit and big-man insurance. To get either one of those without breaking up its core group, these are the names the Knicks would most likely have to part with. Dadiet, a recent first-round pick, doesn’t play and the Knicks, who are close to the second apron, can’t take in more money than they send out, so they might have to add another salary to Yabusele depending on who they trade for. The same goes for Kolek, except he’s shown some flashes here and there in Year 2. Clarkson is on a veteran minimum after getting bought out by the Jazz last offseason. He signed with the Knicks, expecting to play. However, he’s been out of the rotation. It feels more likely that Clarkson gets bought out than traded if he and New York part ways, but his salary could be useful in a small deal.

There was also trade chatter of a Yabusele and Dadiet package for Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan, but San Antonio was not willing to take on Yabusele’s $5.78 million player option for next season, league sources told HoopsHype.
