Agbaji not taking the floor at all on Friday night in the Raptors' loss to the Celtics amplified the speculation that is beginning to waft around the team with the Feb. 5 trade deadline approaching. Was he being held out because a deal was in the works and the Raptors didn’t want to risk him being injured? Per sources, that wasn’t the case, and it was a matter of Rajaković wanting to create more runway to evaluate some of the other wings that have struggled to find playing time, such as Martin, Lawson, and Battle, the second-year sharpshooter who has been further down on the depth chart than Agbaji most of the year.

The Toronto Raptors have downgraded Ochai Agbaji (back lumbar strain) to doubtful for Monday’s game against Charlotte.
Josh Lewenberg: Murray-Boyles (illness) and Agbaji (lumbar strain) are questionable for tomorrow’s game in Indy. Mogbo is still with the 905.

Doug Smith: I don’t know if it will happen but I do know there is mutual interest between Antetokounmpo and the Raptors. The wild card is the cost. But I also think the Raptors are uniquely placed to make an attractive offer that won’t ruin their franchise or roster. I would make the case that a logjam at the wings makes them deep enough that if they had to pay even two out of Gradey Dick, Ochai Agbaji, Ja’Kobe Walter, RJ Barrett, Jonathan Mogbo would still leave enough to fill out a pretty good team with promising young players still developing. Plus, they have all their picks, so giving a first-rounder every year for, say, four years, leaves enough.
