Damichael Cole: GG Jackson says he already has a relationship with Darryn Peterson and AJ Dybantsa. He mentioned he texted Keaton Wagler the other day after the Illinois standout followed him back.
The Grizzlies have upgraded Cedric Coward (low back soreness), GG Jackson (left knee soreness) and Cam Spencer (low back soreness) to available for Monday’s game against Cleveland. Taj Gibson (right foot injury management) and Taylor Hendricks (right thumb sprain) are now doubtful.
The Grizzlies have ruled out Jahmai Mashack (concussion protocol) for Sunday’s game against Milwaukee. Javon Small (left thigh contusion) is also out, Olivier-Maxence Prosper (low back soreness) is available, Taj Gibson (right foot injury management) is probable, Walter Clayton (left hip soreness) is questionable, and Cedric Coward (low back soreness) and GG Jackson (left knee soreness) are doubtful.

GG Jackson doesn't think the Memphis Grizzlies are getting a fair shake from officials compared to other teams' stars such as the Houston Rockets' Kevin Durant. After the Grizzlies lost to the Rockets 119-109 on Friday night, Jackson was critical of calls going in favor of Durant. "KD can jab step and jab step and just jump up and down and your hand is right there," said Jackson, in his third season out of South Carolina. "[You] clearly see on the replay that nobody touched him."

The Rockets went to the line 26 times compared to 18 for Memphis, but Jackson focused on Durant with his comments. He implied that the veteran gets the benefit of calls, while younger players pay the price. "It's unbelievable how the refs can suck up to somebody," Jackson said. "He's the GOAT, so I respect that, but as far as us other guys, we bust our [tails] like he does."

But before practice started, reality set in. Coach Tuomas Iisalo gathered the team together and revealed that Jaren Jackson Jr., Jock Landale, John Konchar and Vince Williams Jr. were being traded to the Utah Jazz. "For me, it was just initial shock," forward GG Jackson told the Commercial Appeal on Feb. 4. "I didn't really know how to react. On the way to the plane, it kind of hit me a little bit."

"I'm not going to say I didn't expect it, and I'm going to say I was expecting it," Grizzlies forward GG Jackson said about the Morant news. "I kind of thought things would just mellow over and get back to him being on the floor with us. Right now, I really don't have no reaction. He still comes in the facility smiling with us, doesn't let any of the outside noise affect him."

Thankfully for Tuomas Iisalo's undermanned squad, Jackson delivered 18 points, nine rebounds, one assist, and one block while shooting an efficient 7-9 from the field over 30 minutes in Utah. The sudden return to the rotation and subsequent explosion against the Jazz painted a picture of a player staying ready. Aldama did not hold back in his assessment of Jackson's return. “(Jackson) did a great job,” Aldama began. “It's not easy not being with the team for a bit, going to the G-League for a bit. The fact that he was poised, let the game come to him, and played super hard was great. He was a big factor in the (win over the Jazz). I'm super happy for him, and it's good to see him progress.”
