Cook: He leads by example and guys follow him because he puts the work in. U’Ren: He’s able to meld work and play. Damion Lee, Warriors guard: Arguably the hardest-working guy I’ve ever been around. U’Ren: I used to be in charge of the music for practice. Every once in a while he would latch onto a song and we would play that song on repeat. One time there was a part of a song with a xylophone in it. He’d take three shots and then play this pretend xylophone. If anyone else did it, it would be corny. But it’s so genuine and pure with him, and it’s both magnetic and infectious. That set the tone for the entire organization.
Duane Rankin: "We have a lot of good basketball players on this team. Even guys who aren't playing right now. J-O and D-Lee didn't play a single minute, but they really helped me throughout the game with their talk and advice." Duane Rankin: "Nice to see one go through." Damion Lee on his 1st action in regular season Saturday vs. Dallas Mavericks after missing last season with major knee injury. Gerald Bourguet: Damion Lee on Kevin Durant: "People try to attack your character when they don't know you, when they're on the outside looking in....but Kev's been good in my book, and he'll always be good in my book. He's one of the real ones across this league." pic.x.com/l6lhIMtN6N
Gerald Bourguet: Mike Budenholzer said Grayson Allen (sore Achilles) is probable for the Suns’ season opener tomorrow. Damion Lee (hamstring) is too. Josh Okogie (hamstring) is out.

Grayson Allen and Josh Okogie didn’t participate in the scrimmage. Allen hasn’t played since the first preseason game. He initially missed time due to personal reasons and has been dealing with a sore right Achilles as of late. Okogie played the first three preseason games but experienced right hamstring tightness in the third one against Detroit. He missed the final two preseason games. Damion Lee didn’t participate in the scrimmage, either.
He’s made it all the way back and will begin training camp Tuesday with the Suns, but he once again opened up about his ‘journey’ back that included bouts with depression and seeing a therapist. “Just didn’t know if I was going to be the same person again, let alone the same player,” Lee said. “Going through that was tough, but I got to give credit to God, my family, my wife, my kids, my mom, my support system.”
Evan Sidery: The Suns plan to play Damion Lee in the role replacing Eric Gordon off the bench next season, per @Gambo987 (podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the…). Lee missed all of last season due to a torn meniscus, but he shot 44.5% on threes in 2022-23 for Phoenix. pic.twitter.com/3hih7WXuCy
Gerald Bourguet: Damion Lee will return on a vet minimum deal ($2.8M) after all, per source. The Suns are still working to bring Josh Okogie back, which will be for more than the vet minimum using his Bird rights because other teams want him too. Phoenix values his point-of-attack defense (1/2)

Between the Suns, Phoenix Mercury and now the Valley Suns, Bartelstein and owner Mat Ishbia have completed the holy trio of professional basketball teams in the state of Arizona. It’s something Ishbia mentioned on his first day as owner in a one-on-one interview with PHNX Sports, and now the Suns will get their opportunity to utilize an important team-building tool. “Obviously James Jones and myself have talked about, from day one, the impact the G League can have,” Bartelstein said. “Players on our team from Bol Bol, Grayson Allen and Damion Lee, you’re seeing more and more players start their careers in the G League and grow, learn our system, learn how we want to play it, and one day contribute at the high-up stage of playing in NBA games, NBA playoff games and hopefully winning an NBA championship.”
The Phoenix Suns and Drew Eubanks are on the same page regarding his status with the team. “The full organization wants me back next and I want to be a Phoenix Sun next year,” Eubanks said. Eubanks has a player option for next season as he has until June 29 to exercise it along with Eric Gordon, Josh Okogie and Damion Lee, who missed the entire 2023-24 season with a knee injury. “I’m going to make the best decision for my family and I when the time comes,” Eubanks said.
Gerald Bourguet: Grayson Allen (right ankle sprain) is officially listed as questionable for Game 3 tomorrow, as expected. Damion Lee (right meniscus surgery) remains out, not other additions to the Suns' injury report
