Bona is focused on finding ways to get better and stronger and apply everything he learned for this past season. “I’m going into my sophomore year,” Bona said. “You can only go up from here, like learning from mistakes and stuff like that. Yeah, I’m really excited to see what this upcoming year has to hold for the team and also being a part of it.”
“I feel like our skill sets complement each other,” Bona said of Broome, a 6-9, 249-pound power forward/center. “Me and Johni, we cannot wait to be able to share the floor together, to be about to operate on the low block together, high low, sometimes pace the floor. “So I think that’s the goal, to work together, to be able to learn each other’s strengths and weaknesses and try to complement each other while we’re on the floor, and my goal is always to be able to help the team, even if I share the floor with Joel [Embiid]. I’m going to do my part.”
The Turkish Basketball Federation announced the preliminary roster of the national team for the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket. Houston Rockets All-Star center Alperen Sengun headlines a roster of 16 players. The list also includes Philadelphia 76ers forward/center Adem Bona who is expected to make his debut with the Turkish national team. EuroLeague superstar guard Shane Larkin will be the naturalized player of the “12 Giant Men” in his return to a major tournament after the 2022 EuroBasket. Panathinaikos and national team head coach Ergin Ataman revealed that Philadelphia 76ers center Adem Bona will suit up for Turkiye in the tournament. "Adem will be at the EuroBasket. Our Turkish Basketball Federation Sporting Director Alper Yılmaz visited him last week. Adem is very eager to play for the national team," Ataman said via TRT Spor.
Following an extensive junior career with the national team of Turkiye and coming out of his rookie NBA season with the Philadelphia 76ers, 22-year-old Adem Bona discussed his international options. “It’s a huge consideration for me,” he replied to a question about playing for Turkiye at the senior level and a potential call-up by national team selector Ergin Ataman for EuroBasket 2025 during an end-of-season press conference on Sunday. “I’ve played for the national team for almost every age group since U16 to U20. So, the Turkish national team is very important to me. Also, I’m from Nigeria. The Nigerian national team is important to me,” he added, “I don’t think there’s any preference. I represent both countries equally, but there’s going to be a decision that has to be made during the summer.”
Nick Nurse’s marching orders for Adem Bona in the makeshift 76ers’ remaining games are simple. “Just continue to keep doing what he’s doing,” the Sixers coach said this week, before the Sixers beat the Washington Wizards on Wednesday, 122-103. “Again, my thing with him is: Can he continue to do it on a nightly basis? I think his plate’s pretty full right now. He’s starting. He’s playing huge minutes. He’s been against some of the best big guys in the league.”
Adem Bona’s athleticism has been on full display in the starting lineup. That’s something he wasn’t able to show on the offensive end during his two seasons at UCLA. “My role was different from the role I play right now with the NBA,” Bona said. “In college, I was back to the basket. So I was getting double-teamed the whole time. So my style of play was different. “Now, I’m in the league, I have to adapt to my style of play and play the way to play to my advantage and what’s going to help the team.”

Gina Mizell: Per Sixers, Andre Drummond is also OUT tonight. Nick Nurse said during his pregame availability that he expected Adem Bona to get minutes, and that he’s starting to look more like himself after his own injury.
