The Greek national team for the Paris Olympics includes Kostas Papanikolaou, Nick Calathes, Giannoulis Larentzakis, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Georgios Papagiannis, Konstantinos “Dinos” Mitoglou, Thomas Walkup, Vassilis Charalampopoulos, Dimitris Moraitis, Panagiotis Kalaitzakis, Vassilis Toliopoulos, and Nikos Chougkaz. After winning the OQT in Piraeus, Greece qualified for the Olympics for the first time since 2008 and will face Australia, Canada, and Spain in Group A. Their first match will be against Canada on July 27th.

Kostas Antetokounmpo, a participant in the 2022 EuroBasket and the previous summer’s FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Victoria, was officially ruled out due to injury, the Hellenic Basketball Federation announced Sunday. The latest healthy scratch was Vassilis Toliopoulos. His previous senior international experience was limited to caps in Qualifiers. Giannis Antetokounmpo was recently confirmed as out for the World Cup with experienced guards Nick Calathes and Kostas Sloukas missing as well.

In the 18-man preliminary roster for the most anticipated International competition of the year, however, the name of Giannis Antetokounmpo is present, although his presence at the 2023 FIBA World Cup is still unclear.

JD Shaw: Free agent guard Nick Calathes has signed a two-year with Fenerbache in Turkey. Calathes, 33, played 129 games with the Grizzlies from 2013-15. He’s remained overseas since those stints, leading the EuroLeague in assists three times (2018, 2019 and 2022).

Barcelona’s season ended Sunday as Real Madrid won the ACB League trophy with a 3-1 run in the finals and according to a report by Mundo Deportivo’s Jose Ignacio Huguet, Nick Calathes wants to leave the club.

Dante Exum's potential NBA return has been put on ice after the Boomers star committed to finishing the season with Spanish giants Barcelona. Exum, the No.5 NBA draft pick in 2014, was waived by the Houston Rockets in October before Barcelona picked up the Australian on a three-month contract as an injury replacement for Nick Calathes.

Calathes, 32, was recently sidelined after suffering a left fibula fracture. The Greek international is expected to remain out for approximately five more weeks prompting the search in the market for a suitable replacement. Besides the former Memphis Grizzlies point guard in 2013-14 and 2014-15, Cory Higgins (low back soreness) and Alex Abrines (knee) are also out for the team coached by Sarunas Jasikevicius. Barca is currently tied with archrival Real Madrid on top of both the EuroLeague and ACB standings. The two sides are scheduled to meet each other at Palau Blaugrana next Friday in EuroLeague Regular Season Round 14 action.

Giannis Antetokounmpo put on a show right from the start as he pushed Greece to an 83-63 win over Italy at the Acropolis Cup. Antetokounmpo logged 18 points and eight rebounds in a bit over 19 minutes of play while Georgios Printezis added 12 in addition to Nick Calathes’ and Giannoulis Larentzakis’ 11 points each. Ioannis Bourousis grabbed game-high 17 rebounds along with eight points.
