During the past summer, Bojan Bogdanović decided to end his professional career, and soon he could be taking on a new role. According to journalist Bruno Feliks, the former NBA player is expected to become president of two-time EuroLeague champion Cibona, the club he represented as a player from 2009 to 2011. Reportedly, the 10-year NBA veteran is very close to accepting the new role and aims to restore the glory of a club that has produced numerous NBA stars.
Bojan Bogdanovic has officially announced his retirement from professional basketball after a decade-long NBA career. The 36-year-old forward revealed the decision on social media, citing ongoing struggles with injuries that forced him off the court this past season. Bogdanović began the 2024/25 season with the Brooklyn Nets but was sidelined by surgeries on his left foot and wrist. He was waived by the Nets in February after undergoing season-ending foot surgery. “Sometimes in life, you don’t choose the moment. The moment chooses you,” Bogdanović wrote. “After more than 14 months battling injury and multiple surgeries, it’s time to close this chapter.”
“After more than two decades in the game, the moment has arrived to say goodbye to basketball. Not just as a sport, but as a part of who I am. I’m closing this chapter, but my love for the game remains. I didn’t reach the end. I’ve reached the other side of the beginning…” He also touched on his European career. “I’ve had the privilege of playing for clubs that left their mark on both European and NBA basketball. From Mostar and Zrinjski, to Real Madrid and Murcia, then to Cibona and Fenerbahce, I wore every jersey with pride“.

Fourth-year gunner Cam Thomas (24.6 points per game) failed to come to terms on an extension and is widely considered to be available, but Brooklyn’s list of possibilities hardly ends there. They have proven vets like Dennis Schröder and Bojan Bogdanovicć, who has yet to play this season because of left foot surgery but is progressing toward a return.
Erik Slater: Nic Claxton (lower back tightness) is questionable tomorrow at the Knicks. Dorian Finney-Smith (left ankle sprain) is probably. Ben Simmons (left calf tightness) is not on the injury report. Trendon Watford, Day’Ron Sharpe, and Bojan Bogdanovic remain out.
The Nets haven’t offered any update on Bogdanovic’s progress. A source said one isn’t expected until next month. “I saw him on the court shooting [Wednesday]. But playing 5-on-5 and in a real game, he’s progressing well. We’re not gonna give an exact date, but he’s doing good,” Fernandez said. “He’s in good spirits, he had a good week. He was with us on the road. Having him around is important because he’s a veteran. He’ll talk in huddles, he gives guys tips on what to do and his involvement is very important.”
