Steve Kerr: Dan Majerle was also a rookie and he was our first round pick and starting lineup right away. Dan was a stud and he's out there guarding Michael Jordan, and I'm on the end of the bench. There's no way I'm even going to get in the game, and Jordan got the ball right in front of our bench with those huge hands. He's palming the ball like kind of wagging it right in front of our bench, and he turns. I was sitting right next to Ed Nealy. He was awesome, he was kind of my vet, he kind of took me under his wing. Jordan turns and Dan Majerle is all over him, trying to guard him. And Jordan literally turns during the game and he goes, "Watch this." And then he turns around and he goes right around Majerle and he dunks it and he looks back at our bench and he's like chuckling and I'm like, "Oh my god." And Ed Nealy was like “You know, you probably shouldn't cheer. He's on the other team.” Because I was like, "Oh my god,” you know, I did one of those type things. When you see the guys on the end of the bench and they’re like, “oh my god”. Yeah, he told me you probably should not cheer. He's on the other team.

The Hall of Famer is scheduled to attend the game as the team will be honored at halftime. Barkley is set to be joined by Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle, Cedric Ceballos, Tom Chambers, Richard Dumas, Frank Johnson, Tim Kempton, Negele Knight, Oliver Miller, Alex Stivrins and Mark West.
The uniform, Barkley and America West Arena made their basketball debut in Phoenix on Nov. 7, 1992. The Suns beat the Clippers by six points, with Barkley finishing with 37 points and 21 rebounds. His teammates didn’t do much to help him. “Our best play was to keep throwing up bricks and let Charles go get them,” Dan Majerle said. “He really did a great job.''
A Black basketball operations staffer told ESPN he has heard Sarver say the N-word multiple times. Sarver once used the N-word when trying to explain to a staffer why he preferred hiring Lindsey Hunter over Dan Majerle as head coach in 2013, according to a high-level executive who heard the remark. Hunter was a first-year Suns player development coordinator while Majerle was in his fifth year as a Suns associate head coach. "These [N-words] need a [N-word]," Sarver told the staffer of his largely Black team, according to the executive.
Nearly 28 years have passed since former Phoenix Suns guard Dan Majerle first felt the anguish over losing to the Chicago Bulls in the 1993 NBA Finals. The hurt still lingers. So much so that Majerle admitted he still reflects on former Chicago Bulls guard John Paxson making a game-winning 3-pointer in a decisive Game 6 at least once a week. “I think about it a lot,” Majerle told USA TODAY Sports. “They show it a lot. But I do think about it a lot.”

Then, Jordan revealed he became motivated to play well against Majerle because former Bulls general manager Jerry Krause respected Majerle’s defense. As explained throughout the documentary, Jordan had despised Krause partly because of Krause's desire to receive more credit for how he evaluated talent and assembled teams. “It’s a point of pride for me,” Majerle said. “You got the greatest player in the world, that has ever played basketball sitting there and talking about that one of his motivations was to kick your ass. That’s not a bad thing.”
“I knew Milwaukee would bounce back and make this a series. But I still think the Suns are going to win,” Majerle said. “I’m actually picking them in six [games]. But I knew it wouldn’t be an easy series at all.”
