Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro weighed in on the upcoming draft. As captured by Crossing Broad’s Kyle Pagan, Shapiro has concerns about the 76ers potentially picking Bailey at No. 3. A Pennsylvania man pleaded guilty Wednesday in a sports betting scheme that ended Toronto Raptors forward Jontay Porter's NBA career. With Mahmud Mollah 's plea Wednesday, three people — including Porter — have now publicly admitted their roles in the scandal. It worked like this: The player withdrew early from games so that tipped-off gamblers could win wagers that he would score fewer points than sportsbooks expected.

Stanley "Whitey" Von Nieda, the first former NBA player to become a centenarian, died on Wednesday at 101 years old. News of Von Nieda's passing, which occurred in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, was confirmed by the league on Friday. In June of 2022, he was honored by the National Basketball Retired Players Association for becoming the first former player to live to 100.

The Bakken Bears secured the services of 2016 Mr. Pennsylvania Basketball Tony Carr, the team announced Friday.
