Partizan recently acquired former Los Angeles Lakers guard Shake Milton, but the Belgrade club is reportedly looking for more NBA reinforcements. The Serbian powerhouse is interested in former Philadelphia 76ers and San Antonio Spurs center Charles Bassey. “Charles is honored by the interest shown by Basketball Club Partizan. He is definitely considering the offer and will continue discussions with the club and his representative. Other European clubs have also contacted him, but Partizan has been his priority,” Bassey’s representative Mark McNeil told Meridian Sport.
Donatas Urbonas: OFFICIAL: Shake Milton is leaving the NBA to sign a 2-year deal with Partizan Belgrade.
Seven-year NBA veteran Shake Milton is in advanced talks with the EuroLeague club Partizan Belgrade, sources tell BasketNews. The 28-year-old guard is close to making the move to Europe after playing for six NBA teams: the Philadelphia 76ers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, and Los Angeles Lakers. Milton was waived by the Lakers on July 20 — the same day his $3 million contract for the 2025–26 season was set to become fully guaranteed. The move was made to create cap space for the arrival of Marcus Smart. Telesport.rs were first to report the information about Milton being in advanced talks with Partizan.
Smart, who cleared waivers after reaching a buyout agreement with the Washington Wizards, signed a two-year, $11 million deal with the Lakers, sources previously told ESPN. L.A. waived guards Shake Milton and Jordan Goodwin to have access to the biannual exception to sign Smart, 31, for more than the veteran's minimum, sources said.
Shams Charania: The Los Angeles Lakers have waived guard Jordan Goodwin, sources tell ESPN. Goodwin emerged as a key rotation piece for JJ Redick late last season, playing 29 games and four playoff contests. Goodwin and Shake Milton were released to clear space for arrival of Marcus Smart.

The Lakers have additional roster work to do. The team can create a roster spot by waiving guard Shake Milton, and team sources have said that improving the team’s point of attack defense is a priority. But the addition of Ayton answers the Lakers’ questions at center at least in the short term — the most obvious area of growth from last year’s team that finished third in the West before being bounced in five games by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round.
Dave McMenamin: Now, I've checked in with both the Lakers and LeBron's camp on this one. For the Lakers, it's business as usual. They have motivation to compete at the highest level and maximize not just LeBron's timeline, but they want to compete now with Luka Doncic. Some have said that the true cause of this situation was the Lakers not offering LeBron a contract beyond next season. But Rich Paul told me that they never asked for one. Paul also made it clear to me that LeBron has not asked for a trade. And Paul hasn't even discussed the possibility of wanting a trade in the future with the Lakers. Paul did tell me that four teams contacted him with interest in trading for LeBron. So now we wait. The Lakers have a full roster to have a decision to make on Shake Milton's contract by July 20th. They also have three expiring contracts in Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, who's here tonight, and Maxi Kleber, plus their 2031 first-round draft pick they can use in trade scenarios. Now, I asked LeBron just before tip off if he'd like to join the broadcast to discuss everything, and he told me, quote, "I ain't got nothing to talk about, guys."
