According to a source, both were on thin ice heading into the trade deadline back in February, with concerns over the immediate direction of the organization. The embarrassment of the Jaden Ivey incident was the final straw, leaving the Reinsdorfs no choice but to move on after six-plus seasons.

Either way, there is a real likelihood that the Bulls are conducting a coaching search in less than two weeks or simply promoting Wes Unseld Jr. since the coaching staff is all under contract through at least next season. If there is a search, however, who would conduct it? That is the other major decision ownership has to make. Do they do an entire purge and move on from Karnisovas and Eversley? That has become a reality in the wake of the embarrassing Jaden Ivey ordeal.

On Wednesday, Caitlyn Ivey finally broke her silence about the former NBA lottery guard's ranting. Via Instagram stories, she set the record straight about claims that she is no longer communicating. Furthermore, she posted screenshots of messages from people threatening and criticizing her in the wake of her husband's drama. "If you know me you know I have never once abandoned that man through all the trials.. and I still haven’t now," Caitlyn wrote in one of her IG stories. "There is obviously a lot more going on, so leave your conspiracies and guesses to yourselves."

Joel Lorenzi: Billy Donovan on his recollection of the Philly trip Ivey mentioned last night on a podcast, when he claimed he offered to fly to join the team and play but was ruled out for the season: “We thought that was the best thing for his health. I respect Jaden, like Josh Giddey, wanting to play. … The doctors sometimes have to save players from themselves.”

On Tuesday, he referenced an incident with Anthony Edwards from 2022, in which the Wolves guard posted a video to social media with homophobic comments. Edwards was later fined $40,000 by the NBA. “He said those things, right, and they fined him for it,” Jaden Ivey said. “And so how is it that he said something detrimental and basically hypocritical judgment. … He got fined. He didn’t get kicked out the league. He didn’t get waived, right? But it’s because he’s the best player on their team, right? They need him, right? He makes them money, right? “It’s all money involved into that. That’s why he’s still playing.”

“I’ve almost committed suicide multiple times,” Jaden Ivey said Tuesday evening during an interview with the “PinPoint Podcast,” hosted by Kerrigan Skelly, a self-described evangelist with nearly 100,000 YouTube subscribers. “And I’m not ashamed to say it. I’m not ashamed because God was merciful to keep me here. “I had (oxycodone) pills in my hand. And my wife was telling me, ‘Don’t do this. Don’t go down this road.’”

Omari Sankofa II: JB on Jaden Ivey: "I know how it’s been extremely difficult for him as far as the way he was playing, the injuries, trying to make the comeback and trying to overcome that ... Having said that, I also believe the NBA is one of the most inclusive environments in pro sports."

Before Jaden Ivey even stepped foot on Chicago soil, there were rumblings from Detroit that the shooting guard was a “preacher.” They undersold it. His interviews became sermons in which he was asking reporters if they’ve been “saved” and if they “fornicated before marriage.”

It wasn’t a good way to end a day that started with the news that guard Jaden Ivey was waived for conduct detrimental to the team. ‘‘He’s a very talented player,’’ guard Josh Giddey said of the Ivey news. ‘‘Obviously, the whole thing is kind of unfortunate in a way. I hope he gets the help he needs, whatever he’s going through or not going through. I do really hope he gets help. It’s not going to be with the Bulls anymore, but wherever it is, I hope he gets it.’’

Jaden Ivey called the Bulls “liars” after the team waived him on Monday for “conduct detrimental to the team” following an Instagram livestream where he criticized the NBA’s support of Pride Month. Ivey has hosted several livestreams recently where he has gone on lengthy tangents about religion and has made inflammatory remarks, including calling Catholicism a “false religion.”

During one of his rambling monologues, the 24-year-old Ivey even called out Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry. “That's why you got Steph Curry, he's not even surrendered, and y'all believe he's a Christian because he wrote Philippians 4:13,” said Ivey. “Y'all think he's a Christian. But he’s cursing just like the world.”
