New Orleans Pelicans: Joe Dumars on Herb Jones: “Herb Jones exemplifies all the great qualities our team values with his toughness, competitiveness, and commitment to getting better every day. We could not be more excited to sign Herb to this contract extension and keep him in New Orleans for many years to come.”
Shams Charania: New Orleans Pelicans forward Herb Jones has agreed to a three-year, $68 million contract extension with the franchise, Mark Bartelstein and Kieran Piller of @PrioritySports told ESPN. Jones now has a total five years and $97M on his Pelicans deal – with player option in 2029-30.
Bobby Marks: Breakdown on the Herb Jones extension Current contract 25/26- $13.9M, 26/27- $14.9M. Extension 27/28- $20.9M (140% of $14.9M), 28/29- $22.5M, 29/30- $24.2M
Shamit Dua: Securing the player option for Herb Jones is a big difference maker. The Pelicans essentially went 6 years without handing one out. To me this is a big separator over waiting until next year to do this from Herb's side.
Pelicans Film Room: "I am not expecting a Herb Jones trade. One of the best contracts in the league, New Orleans knows that. As much as New Orleans has done some funky things, I don't think they're moving Herb Jones any time soon" -- @JakeLFischer on Herb Jones trade rumors

Shamit Dua: I don't know how these rumors start but there was no private Ace Bailey workout in New Orleans. And there's no shot Herb Jones is being moved tonight.
"Is there a player you’re hearing floated around—a name that’s surprised you—as we’re now 24 hours away from the draft? Chris Mannix: "New Orleans is very much open for business. Not particularly Zion, but they’re a team determined to shake things up. Could Herb Jones be available? That’s a small name, but I think that’s something interesting."
One guy, as I look through teams, that I feel could be an ideal target for the Grizzlies is Herb Jones. I’d love it if they could get a guy like Herb Jones. I’m curious—now that the Pelicans have changed their front office—who knows how they feel about anyone on their roster? Herb’s mostly been a negative offensively in his career, but he's an elite on-ball defender. I think he fits the archetype Memphis has been going for—when they had Dillon Brooks, tried to replace him with Marcus Smart, and then wanted Dorian Finney-Smith. I feel like that might be the higher end of the realistic outcomes—if the Pelicans are open to doing something like that. I just think it's worth saying. The Pelicans—who knows what’s going to happen there now that they’ve completely changed their front office. But that would be a really good and sneaky addition. He’s not a huge, expensive, big-name guy, but in NBA circles, I think he’s a pretty big name. He’s someone that would be a really good fit. I think he’d really complete that starting five—that closing five.
Anthony Chiang: The Pelicans' long injury report for tonight's game vs. Heat: Out: Brandon Boston, Bruce Brown, Jordan Hawkins, Herbert Jones, CJ McCollum, Yves Missi, Trey Murphy, Dejounte Murray, Kelly Olynyk and Zion Williamson. Questionable: Jose Alvarado and Karlo Matkovic.

RJ Barrett was discussed in trade talks for Brandon Ingram with New Orleans, but the Pelicans preferred the expiring contract of Bruce Brown and stretch-five center Kelly Olynyk, who’s owed $13.45 million next season, league sources told HoopsHype. With Trey Murphy III and Herb Jones already on the wing, the Pelicans didn’t view Barrett as a suitable fit for their roster as talks would have necessitated finding a third team, sources said.
Herb Jones underwent successful surgery on Wednesday to repair a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder, the team announced. The surgery was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, MD in Los Angeles, CA.
