Giorgos Kalaitzakis is back in Europe after his run in the NBA by returning to Panathinaikos Athens, as the Greek club announced. Kalaitzakis, 23, was a free agent after finishing the 2021-22 season with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Three years after first declaring for an NBA draft and three months after finally being selected in one, Georgios Kalaitzakis had just completed his first training camp practice as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks at the Sports Science Center. “I still feel like I was dreaming,” the 22-year-old said Sept. 28. “I woke up this morning and I said to myself you’re going to have your first NBA practice. He works really hard, he works extremely hard. He has, I think, great basketball IQ for his age and he just keeps getting better every day.

Georgios Kalaitzakis is now officially the third Greek player at the Milwaukee Bucks. He joins Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo and feels excited to begin practicing and playing with them. “It’s a blessing to have two Greeks, Giannis and Thanasis, two amazing guys great players,” Kalaitzakis said after his NBA Summer League debut against the Brooklyn Nets. “Obviously Giannis is the best player in the world. I have to learn a lot from them. I’ll go there, keep my head down. Work, work, work and I think at the end of the day I’ll be fine.”
