Shams Charania: The Milwaukee Bucks are waiving forward Georgios Kalaitzakis, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.
Three years after first declaring for an NBA draft and three months after finally being selected in one, Georgios Kalaitzakis had just completed his first training camp practice as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks at the Sports Science Center. “I still feel like I was dreaming,” the 22-year-old said Sept. 28. “I woke up this morning and I said to myself you’re going to have your first NBA practice. I feel I’m blessed, truly blessed.”
On one hand, one could look at this season as a culmination of a three-year professional journey. But for Kalaitzakis, it’s one that’s just beginning. “He’s one of those kids who has kind of been under the radar a little bit, as in globally under the radar,” said Thanasis Antetokounmpo, who played with Kalaitzakis in Greece for two seasons. “In Greece he’s a big talent and great potential. He works really hard, he works extremely hard. He has, I think, great basketball IQ for his age and he just keeps getting better every day.

Georgios Kalaitzakis is now officially the third Greek player at the Milwaukee Bucks. He joins Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo and feels excited to begin practicing and playing with them. “It’s a blessing to have two Greeks, Giannis and Thanasis, two amazing guys great players,” Kalaitzakis said after his NBA Summer League debut against the Brooklyn Nets. “Obviously Giannis is the best player in the world. I have to learn a lot from them. I’ll go there, keep my head down. Work, work, work and I think at the end of the day I’ll be fine.”
“I can’t explain how much happy I am right now,” Kalaitzakis said. “It’s like a dream come true. From the first day I started to play basketball it was always my dream to come play in the NBA. It’s a big opportunity for me. I’ll try to learn from all these guys, Jrue, Khris, Giannis…
Eric Nehm: Per a league source, it is a three-year deal for Georgios Kalaitzakis. The Bucks used part of the mid-level exception to allow the deal to last longer than two years.
