With Tavares and Bruno Fernando holding down the center position, they’re looking for a big man who can stretch the floor with shooting and play alongside a traditional center or pair up with Garuba, who seems more comfortable playing as a center rather than a power forward. According to what we’ve learned, Real Madrid has Dario Šarić’s name on the table.

The Toronto Raptors are expected to place 26-year-old forward/center Bruno Fernando on the waivers list over the next few hours to avoid picking up guaranteed salary for the remainder of the 2024-25 season. The decision has been confirmed by multiple reports in the United States, including notes about links between the Angolan big and Turkish Airlines EuroLeague outfit Fenerbahce Beko. It remains unclear whether Fernando will consider options outside the NBA as a free agent. However, potentially becoming an unrestricted free agent will indeed open a path toward Fener.

The only new information I have here is that, as of late last month, the Knicks were at the very least exploring the market for a veteran center. Earlier in the offseason, the Knicks had some interest in signing Bruno Fernando. Fernando signed a nonguaranteed deal with the Raptors in early August. As noted last month, the Knicks also made an offer to Omer Yurtseven earlier in free agency. Yurtseven didn’t give the offer strong consideration and last week agreed to terms with European club Panathinaikos.
