Flagg is joining a team of future Hall of Famers, but one day he’s going to take the reins of the franchise. What advice do you have for him in that role, since you experienced it with the Mavericks? Nowitzki: It was hard for me. My personality wasn’t, ‘Hey, look at me. I’m the big speech guy. Follow me now.’ I had to grow into it. Learn through some mistakes. I’m not quite sure I can help him with advice. The only thing is keep your eyes and ears open. Keep learning from your veterans. He’s got some incredible players on the team now with Kyrie [Irving], obviously Klay [Thompson]. AD’s [Anthony Davis] been around forever. There’s so much knowledge there that he can tap into and learn from. Ask questions. How are their pregame routines? What do they eat? How do they prepare for events? What do they do with appearances? How do they interact with the media? That was key for me at the beginning, watching Michael Finley, who was a true pro. Steve Nash, learning from them.

Former Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis has listed his Bel-Air mansion for sale, six months after he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in a blockbuster NBA deal. The 17,254-square-foot estate was posted on Zillow Friday morning with an asking price of nearly $40 million. Located on Stratford Circle at the southern tip of Bel-Air, the gated 3.5-acre property includes eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms.
Zach Lowe: Is LeBron James unhappy that they traded Anthony Davis, his buddy, and his fellow clutch client, champion co-star? I don't really think so. I mean, there was an ESPN story a couple weeks ago about LeBron in this situation in which the reporting was that they understood that when Luka falls into your lap, you got to take him and if the price is AD, the price is AD. I don't even think Klutch was mad about AD going to Dallas. AD and Nico Harrison have been closed for a long time. I think that was sort of on their long-term radar anyway from what I had heard.
Marc Stein: Dallas' Dereck Lively II recently underwent a procedure on his right foot, @TheSteinLine has learned, followed by placement in a boot. This means three key Mavericks are in injury recovery: Kyrie Irving (knee), Anthony Davis (eye) and Lively. More NBA: tinyurl.com/mu56shew

THE LAKERS' POSTURE did not come as a surprise to James, sources said. But it also did not go down easily. Since the Doncic trade on Feb. 1, the Lakers have signaled this shift from James to Doncic through a series of microaggressions: • They did not give him significant notice that they were trading Davis for Doncic -- a transgression James forgave, sources said, because of his respect for Doncic and understanding of the franchise's reasoning for making the trade and keeping it under wraps for as long as possible.
Shams Charania: Dallas Mavericks All-Star Anthony Davis underwent a procedure to repair a detached retina that he suffered during the season, sources tell ESPN. Davis played through multiple hits to the face last year. He is expected to be healthy for next training camp.
Mike Curtis: Jared Dudley’s goodbye to Dallas: “Words can’t even describe how thankful I am for being able to coach for the Dallas Mavericks these past four years…Got to watch & coach some of the best players to ever play this game! Luka, Kyrie, AD, Klay Thompson, (Jalen) Brunson & others.” pic.x.com/ON5JAz2Trs

Tim Reynolds: The No. 1 picks who have been/are teammates with LeBron James: - Shaquille O'Neal - Joe Smith - Greg Oden - Kyrie Irving - Derrick Rose - Andrew Bogut - Anthony Davis - Dwight Howard - Deandre Ayton - Allen Iverson (Olympics) - Tim Duncan (Olympics) - Anthony Edwards (Olympics)
"I mean, for a dude who’s, whatever, a 10-time All-Star—and has a little bit of a reputation for being difficult or whatever— My few interactions with (Anthony Davis) were really cool. When he got traded here, I had to make the graphic with his stats on it. And he technically had not been to 10 All-Star Games yet, so I put 9 on there. And he commented like, 'Hey, it’s been 10.' So I corrected it, and we put it back out there. Anyway, the first time I met him, I said, 'Hey dude, I’m the guy that messed up your graphic.' And he just started laughing and gave me a hug. He was like, 'Dude, it’s all good.'
Throughout the conversations surrounding his player option and a new extension, both sides made clear their commitment to each other, and the Mavericks placed a premium on Irving's leadership and ability to team with All-Star Anthony Davis and soon-to-be No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg under the leadership of coach Jason Kidd and general manager Nico Harrison.
LeBron James: I personally think that he wants to be great. He had a hell of a year at Duke. A guy that can do so many different things out on the floor, can play with the ball, can play without the ball. His jump shot is going to continue to get better. Super athletic, quick second jump. Also he has the benefit unlike myself, he gets to join a team that's established, with Hall of Fame guys: Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, right off the bat. Hall of Fame coach Jason Kidd. These guys can give him the whole blueprint while he continues to learn what his blueprint will be.
