Joel Lorenzi: Patrick Williams and Jalen Smith both listed out tonight vs Portland. Anfernee Simons remains out with a “left ulnar styroid fracture.” Bulls are about to get…creative, particularly in the frontcourt.

Joel Lorenzi: Billy Donovan says Anfernee Simons has a wrist fracture, which was determined after imaging. Says it’s a recurring injury from his time in Boston from training camp that didn’t properly heal. Sounds like he won’t get any procedure midseason, and that option hasn’t been discussed. Donovan doesn’t want to call it day-to-day, says it’s a matter of when the pain subsides.

Joel Lorenzi: Anfernee Simons, still out, had his injury designation changed to wrist contusion. Jalen Smith (calf strain) is questionable.

Joel Lorenzi: Billy Donovan says Anfernee Simons will get imaging done tomorrow, and the Bulls don’t yet know the severity of it. Says the designation of “sprained wrist” could very well change after they see a specialist.

Joel Lorenzi: Anfernee Simons is being listed OUT ahead of tonight vs NYK with a left wrist sprain. Nick Richards is questionable with right foot soreness. Pat Williams is probable with a hand contusion.

Julia Poe: Another Bulls injury situation to keep an eye on today: Anfernee Simons left yesterday’s game with a wrist injury and needed scans at the arena. Injury report comes out at 1 pm so we’ll get a sense of the severity of that injury then.

Chicago Bulls: Injury Update: Anfernee Simons (left wrist) is out for the remainder of tonight's game vs. Detroit.

Real quick: could you see yourself in Boston again down the line, potentially? Anfernee Simons: For sure. Obviously, I’ve got to finish our season here first, and then see what happens. But, for sure, down the line—I’ve enjoyed my time here and built great relationships here. So yeah, I see it for sure. I see it.

Bobby Manning: Anfernee Simons told me he was starting to see a future for himself in BOS: "You wanted to see the light at the end of the tunnel ... but obviously it's the NBA. They traded for a great player." He could see himself returning: "For sure down the line. I enjoyed my time here."

I'm told that the Pacers were determined to preserve some upside amid this season of suffering while Haliburton rehabs from his devastating Achilles tear in Game 7 of the Finals. Indiana, remember, is not to be confused with Boston. The Pacers entered Wednesday's play with the second-worst record in the league. This season's Celtics have managed to contend for a top-two seed in the East even without the injured Jayson Tatum. Sources say that the Celtics' decision to acquire Nikola Vučević from Chicago before the trade deadline, in exchange for Anfernee Simons’ expiring contract, was a clear indicator that Boston believes Tatum will indeed return for a postseason run.

Noa Dalzell: Anfernee Simons said he had just woken up from a pregame nap in Dallas when he learned he was traded to the Bulls: “Brad is a good guy, and he's always been open and honest about everything. Obviously, it was a tough conversation for him, for me to accept, but I understood.”

KC Johnson: Anfernee Simons on return to Boston: “I know it’s going to be fun and a competitive game. I know they’re not going to take it easy on me at all.”

Simons doesn’t care that his time is limited. Or that these Bulls were gutted, built to sink. He craves cohesion in this 30-game audition. “Yeah, nah, this not a normal situation,” Simons said, shaking his head. “Seven new guys, six of them are playing heavy minutes and we have to just learn on the fly like that. It’s just gonna take tons of communication. Experience. Just going through it together with mistakes and everything. “It’s gonna take patience. I think we all competitors. Obviously, we want to win. That’s the end goal. Right now is the time that we learn each other and learn from our mistakes and just try to build something from there.”
