For years, Denver has tried to land a G League team. Proposals included Las Vegas, Seattle, Nashville, San Diego and Omaha, sources said. But there was always some impediment, from local ownership issues to building restrictions. With the Drive, the Nuggets could utilize a hybrid model. The infrastructure, arena, local sponsorships and partnerships are already in place. After Denver’s roughly $9 million buy-in, sources said, the Nuggets would be solely responsible for the basketball side of operations.

How did you come up with the idea of writing it? Korver: The idea started in Atlanta [when Korver played for the Atlanta Hawks]. There was a bunch of things nationally and locally that were happening. And, I was like, ‘Wow, I don’t fully understand.’ And I was embarrassed. I’ve lived in complete diversity and no diversity. … I was born in Paramount, California. Then I moved to Iowa. Then I’m in Omaha, Nebraska, and then Philly and then Utah and then Chicago, Atlanta, Cleveland and back to Utah.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Zaire Wade attends American Heritage School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Where do you live now? Windhorst: I live in Omaha, Nebraska. Oh, yes, I vaguely remember reading that somewhere. Windhorst: And I don’t hide it, but I don’t advertise it, and the funny thing is that nobody really knows where I live, but for a while, the bulk of our NBA programming was coming out of Los Angeles. Three years ago, we started this daily NBA show “The Jump,” which is now year round. So I’ve been coming to LA for three years for 50-plus nights a year, and I probably attended almost the same amount of Laker regular-season games as I did Cavs regular-season games last year.

"I don't know what the outcome is going to be. I don't know if I'm going to be a legend or I'm going to be a bust. But, I'm going to work my hardest," Justin Patton said. The Omaha native, who stands at 7-feet tall, may not be certain of his professional basketball future, but he's positive he's making the right decision to forgo his final three seasons at Creighton for a shot in the NBA. Patton and CU athletics announced the decision in a release Wednesday, but held a press conference Thursday to answer questions.
