The NBA Draft Lottery set a record last weekend, with ABC drawing 2.3 million viewers. That led into the Knicks finishing a sweep of the 76ers in the Eastern Conference semifinals. ABC was up 23% from the lottery last year. USA Network averaged 529,000 viewers for its debut WNBA game on Sunday afternoon, featuring Aces-Sparks. The game on Mother’s Day was up 18% from the WNBA’s average on cable TV last season. Aces-Sparks also had the youngest median age of all national WNBA game broadcasts on opening weekend. Women were the slight majority of the telecast as well (51%).
Towns was reminded about his mother often on Sunday. It wasn’t just another big game that he’s played without her there, sitting behind his team’s bench like she always did — and if she wasn’t in her normal spot, Towns would find her quickly because his mother’s voice always rose above even the loudest crowds, her boisterous encouragement finding his ears like the moon always finds night. Sunday’s Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals landed on Dominican Mother’s Day. Towns’ mother was Dominican. He supports his nationality proudly, even playing for the country’s national basketball team.

Jalen Brunson of the Big Apple has time to spend with his family and recharge with new energy that might help him lead his team to a stunning 3–1 advantage. In honor of Mother's Day, celebrated today in the United States, Brunson’s mother, Sandra, spoke with Sport Channel and shared her connection with her son, her role in his success, and her dream. “It feels amazing to be the mother of an NBA superstar. It’s a blessing. I know how hard Jalen worked for this, how much he sacrificed, and it’s fun for me to see him living his dream,” Sandra says. “At the same time, we have a very public relationship, so I have to be careful when cheering from the stands.” “My role in Jalen’s success? I always reminded him to stay humble, to keep his feet on the ground after both success and failure, to push his teammates, and not to take anything for granted. I leave all the professional stuff to his dad.” “These days, Jalen doesn’t consult with me before games, but I always tell him how proud I am of him. After losses, I send him messages of encouragement, and after wins, we talk more. He only needs me in the role of ‘Mom.’”

Mitchell Robinson on IG: “I know y’all commenting & doing stupid stuff thinking I really care. I really don’t. Y’all know what I care about: this motherf*cker (truck), playing basketball & my daughter…Y’all should know me by now. Been here 7 years… Anyway Happy Mother’s Day”
