Warriors forward Draymond Green was 18 years old the last and only time he voted in a presidential election, during his freshman year at Michigan State in November 2008. Green voted for Barack Obama over John McCain, then checked the box alongside every other Democratic candidate on the ballot. “The reality is, I didn’t have a clue what I was doing,” Green said in a recent interview with The Chronicle. “I just knew I grew up poor and my family was Democrats.”

The tallest man at Sen. John McCain’s funeral wept like so many others he towered over Saturday inside the National Cathedral. “The most touching part was listening to Meghan(McCain, the senator's daughter),” Dikembe Mutombo told USA TODAY Sports as he reached into his left pocket. “I have tissues, as you can see. The tears were coming out all over the place.”

“You want to talk about disrespecting our military. Go through his tweets,” Fizdale said. “John McCain, transgender in the military, look at what he’s doing with North Korea and putting our troops in danger by instigating a war. You know how many troops we’ve got in South Korea and Japan, and all of these places that are in direct line? The Gold Star family that lost their son. I can keep going. When we talk about disrespecting our military, people need to take a step back and look at who’s really disrespecting our military and who’s honoring our military by exercising their rights.”

Gregg Popovich: "I look at the Evangelicals and I wonder, those values don't mean anything to them? All of those values to me are more important than anybody's skill in business or anything else because it tells who we are, and how we want to live, and what kind of people we are. That's why I have great respect for people like Lindsey Graham and John McCain, John Kasich, who I disagree with on a lot of political things, but they had enough fiber and respect for humanity and tolerance for all groups to say what they said about the man. "That's what worries me. I get it, of course we want to be successful, we're all going to say that. Everybody wants to be successful, it's our country, we don't want it to go down the drain. But any reasonable person would come to that conclusion, but it does not take away the fact that he used that fear mongering, and all of the comments, from day one, the race bating with trying to make Barack Obama, our first black president, illegitimate. It leaves me wondering where I've been living, and with whom I'm living.

A report by Senators John McCain and Jeff Flake detailed what they called ‘paid patriotism’ – the United States military paying sports teams for advertisements, many of which looked like altruistic displays of gratitude for servicemen and servicewomen. At least seven NBA teams received money from the U.S. armed forces: Hawks: $230,000 Celtics: $195,000 Pacers: $115,000 Mavericks: $55,000 Trail Blazers: $35,000 Spurs: $26,666 Hornets: $25,000 The list might be longer, but the McCain-Flake report says the Department of Defense can’t account for its full spending.

Sloan changed less than anyone I knew in the game. Phil Jackson, after all, went from full-blown hippie to an Armani model, not to mention a one-time lefty who had some good things to say about John McCain during the 2008 election.
